Presuming they got bought out rather than just quit, there might be a non-compete clause preventing them from starting a new site for a few years.

Let’s be real - this had everything to do with Giant Bomb being acquired by private vulture capital, who (judging by what Jeff Bakalar has said in a few podcasts) are condensing Giant Bomb, CNET, and others down into something like “Red Ventures Games.” It seems likely Giant Bomb will not be allowed to operate on

I just paid $60 for Nier: Replicant, a remake of a ten year old game. Everyone has different priorities.

Apparently the remake has some extra stuff that ties it more to Automata

So far I’m quite enjoying it (six hours in) - the combat isn’t as fun or responsive as Automata, but everything else is really pleasant. And the “big empty fields” you have to run through aren’t that big at all. It’s sort of like Hyrule Field from OOT, and I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what they were going for.

I’m six hours into Nier Replicant, including an hour of just repetitive fishing and gardening, and thus far it hasn’t irritated me, because the views are so pastoral and the music so pleasant. I’m sure it will get annoying further in, but I knew what I was getting into with Yoko Taro.

I just watched a speedrun of this game. Really bizarre and fun.

Oh, I got what it was about. It was just pretty boring and didn’t make much sense.

I’m definitely getting Nier, though ideally waiting for a PS5 to become available, which is fine, because I’m stuck making my third seamoth in Subnautica and I don’t see an end to this game for at least another month.

I absolutely beat it with Joy-Cons. It's very doable. Have two load outs for adventuring and boss survival. MANY of them can be facetanked

Probably my biggest laugh on 701 was Scott finally going “You know what? You’re really kind of a pill! And you’re not very smart!”

Scott made a joke about the Playboy article TO Middleditch the last (probably final) time he was on. Similar to what he said to Todd Glass, essentially “why didn’t you break that news on MY podcast?”

You can smoke weed in NY wherever you can smoke cigarettes, and as of 2010 (thanks bloombito) you cannot smoke cigarettes on city property, e.g., parks, beaches, playgrounds, basketball courts, etc. It’s just a violation if you do, though.

The last book of Southern Reach was quite incomprehensible to me, but I quite liked Borne (probably the most page-turnery of his books), and I just picked up Dead Astronauts.

To be fair, there’s no way you can promote Xavier Renegade Angel with anything less than pure insanity.

I’ve never played it and am dying to. I know enough about it to know it doesn’t necessarily compare to what Taro was able to do with N:A, but I’m hoping it sells enough to get SquareEnix to fully, FULLY fund a sequel to N:A. Even though the story was amazing, and the mechanics were great, you could tell N:A was done

I believe what they were saying is that they would have wanted a brighter, more uplifting Justice League (that being what the Justice League usually is in the comics), and they got a sour version of that inasmuch as it was just Snyder’s version with a brighter filter and bad jokes. They did not want a dark and

See, I thought they summed it up perfectly when they said “Joss Whedon made the worst version of a Justice League movie I’d want to see, and Snyder made the best version of a Justice League movie I don’t want to see.”
