I think there may be a difference between “the Heat offered him all that they could” and “the Heat offered their available salary cap room.” I’m not an NBA salary cap expert but my impression is that the latter is the more accurate statement. I can’t fathom this from any perspective. The Heat has to bury the “Heat lifer” stuff now. Wade deserved just a little bit more. His play isn’t going to be great over the next two years, but the credibility that brought with free agents was huge. Now it’s gone.
