We have a bunch of lizard and rat poop in our garage (it's an ongoing war to keep the rats out; it's a losing battle with the lizards and geckos). I can't answer for the pros but I did play in college. My answer (and it's only mine) is that baseball can be a pretty damn boring sport. You spend A LOT of time waiting. But, while you wait, you have to be ready for anything, so you can't just relax. I think gum and seeds (I didn't chew) are a combo of anxiety…
