I’m glad that they can move beyond the characters origins which are, problematic and confusing, to say the least. 

Building up Monica as a character before CM 2 is a good thing, lets CM 2 hit the ground running with the story it wants to tell.

That’s one of the crazy things about TLJ that people kind of gloss over, it’s that by the end of it, all the stuff that it had previously changed was back to status quo. 

That certainly could be the case, but there were a lot of things that felt rushed for a variety of reasons. I mean he basically tried to do a middle part of a trilogy and an ending all in one movie and it ended up a mess. If the leaks that have came out after the movie are true it seems like JJ got a lot less control over the final cut/edit and some of the script than what we think. 

I think the big question is, not so much that he didn’t want to do them himself, but how could he be so naive about these automotive related things, and how little attention he actually was paying to his car on top of it.

It does look like a touch of pain to get to, but it’s nothing special. It’s probably 45 minutes of knuckle beating at home.
