If you're not careful, you could end up like last season's winners...
NO WAY!
I agree. If anyone's seen the old Dog Brothers competition videos, many of the fights end up as grappling matches, much like empty-handed MMA. If the weapons were bladed, I doubt this would be the case.
I was just about to respond to this, myself. I can't believe this fallacy still exists after more than 20 years.
Nope. I think that's the big disconnect so many people are having in the responses and comments for this article. No one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, is entitled to "nice" or this so-called "civility," whether the guy was being creepy or not. You don't have to like it, but that's reality.
It really doesn't get any more clear than this. Bravo.
In one post, you said "clearly not". In the other post, you said "could be a potential". The two are mutually exclusive, regardless of your imagined context or intended implication. If you can't keep your story straight, that's no one's fault other than your own.
Ah, you must know or have studied many rapists to have made such an assertion. Where did you get your psychology degree, by the way?
I'd also like to point out that in your last response to me you said "...this guy is clearly not a potential rapist."
Clearly to whom? Not all of us having the amazing telepathic powers that you apparently do. All strange men are potential rapists, much like all people are potential friends or enemies. It's up to the individual to interpret signs that may show more clearly where someone falls.
I'm not sure if this was intended to be a response to my post about a woman having cause to be more fearful of men than a man does.
I'm sure it does, and never said it didn't. However, unless I'm shown hard facts that say otherwise, I'm inclined to believe that it happens far less, proportionally speaking, than among heterosexual women and men.
The likelihood of rape came up when zegota suggested that it would pose a legitimate fear on the Hot Topic employee's part. You suggested such fear was overblown. You went on to state that the fear was overblown due to your mysterious statistics. Even if we accept said statistics, I stated that regardless of whether…
It is only (or perhaps mostly) men who are doing the raping. The subject of this article is a female who was creeped out by a male. Which one of the two is more likely to be raped by the other?
I bet he realizes it now, though - and he won't soon forget it. I'd call that a win.
That sounds like a safe way to do business to me.
That's where the nonlethal weaponry comes in.
Do you often have to worry about being physically overpowered by a suitor who aggressively comes onto you? I think, perhaps, that this is a little more common among heterosexual women.
Perhaps his feelings are inconsequential to her?
