There’s also track day insurance.  Prices can range wildly depending on car and everything else.

They (the people in charge and instructors) are all ridiculously cool- at least the events I’ve been in. Really understand the nerves and make newbs feel safe and confident. Really bring down the intimidation factor.  Most tracks will make you drive w/ an instructor if it’s your first time.

This exactly! My Dad purchased a new ‘82 (its first year). It shit the bed so much he sold it under a year later. The rear-end was replaced at least twice. Speakers!!! needed multiple replacements. Issues w/ windows, leaks, brakes. The car was gutless and sounded like a wheezy emphysemic.

I’m with ya! Fuck Ford. They’ve always been overselling and underperforming. My Boss 302 had the stupid-ass Getrag manual. I tracked the car a few times and shifts would get sloppier as it heated up and many others had even worse issues. My personal biggest issue w/ the trans was a shit clutch pressure plate. Anytime…
