So much this. When we bought a car recently we encountered this. It took an enormous amount of effort to find a dealer who actually cared about selling us our next car. I guarantee my next new car is coming from the same place as my current. 

A markup on a $100k car is of zero interest to me or most of the public. I couldn’t care less if dealers bought these for themselves and put them all on the auction block at Mecum.

All of these things are true.

I’m not a believer in the slow cars fast philosophy. I get it, but I don’t find that to be true for me. I’d rather run a GT3 at 50% on track day vs. a Miata at 100%.
