Believe it or not, this election wasn’t about Trump. Trump didn’t win anyone over. He didn’t bring people out of the woodwork. He actually got fewer votes than Mitt Romney did 2012.

This actually isn’t a bad analogy if this across the board loss actually galvanizes progressives to get a real coalition together again.

I guess that’s where the MAGA reference comes from.

I wouldn’t confuse an episode of SVU with a news organization. Plus there are more than enough people willing to say whatever the hell they want on the internet to stop anything from coming.

Stan’s dad, Randy, is an ardent supporter of Hillary Clinton—also known as “Turd Sandwich,” in South Park parlance. In the above preview clip, he appears dazed as he intones, “Well. I don’t know about you guys, but I sure am excited. America’s going to be great again.” Hmm. His daughter, Shelly, fights back,

Half the people voting for Trump didn’t vote for Trump, they voted against Clinton. Against the crony politics, against the globalism that’s led to widespread inequality, but most of all against the professional politician class that puts out statements like the one above.

What more you could have done is listened to the people who told you this would happen. But no, the polls showing Trump beating Clinton in Feb and March didn’t count. Beating Trump wasn’t a big concern back then. Only beating Bernie was. Trump was easy.  Trump was a joke.

So Gawker was right?

You want to know why Hillary Clinton lost? This statement from her encapsulates it beautifully:

So basically 5 people?

What about the people who told you this would happen in Feb and March and you said no way it would ever happen?

It’s amazing. Even now, you’re blaming them. Blame everyone but the candidate who failed to attract enough support to win.

Conspiracies? These things happened. There are emails detailing it happening. People have lost jobs because it happened.

It’s like you people can’t help yourselves. 66% of white women without a college degree voted for Donald Trump. You think it’s because they all hate women too? Hillary Clinton’s case was for wage equality, which is fantastic, but simultaneously useless to those without any wages at all.

Because globalization necessitates a stabilization of standards of living across the world. If you live in a country with high standards of living, you can’t work for the wages someone in Bangladesh can.

Just earlier today they had several posts about how white males who reluctantly voted for Clinton should shut up. And instead of looking at why Hillary lost, they’re going to blame non-voters, people who didn’t cheer hard enough, and third party candidates.

It’s almost as if calling strongly liberal people ‘Bernie Bros’ and dismissing anything they had to say as ‘privileged’ and ‘idealist’ had a negative effect on the election. ‘We don’t need white male votes, we can win without them, so fuck them.’

Just like it’s the fans fault the Indians lost. They should’ve cheered harder.

That’s been the narrative all along, but there’s zero evidence to back it up. In fact, in key places like Michigan, Wisconsin and NH Bernie beat Hillary head to head. Places where Trump is now contesting for the first time.

They somehow couldn’t see the writing on the wall that the big issue was globalization. Trump and Bernie both made huge inroads on opposite sides of the spectrum on that single issue. But still democrats thought it was safer to maintain a status quo. Try to please everyone, end up pissing off everyone.
