They dropped the price after it became apparent how widespread the issue was. The older phone firmware didn’t have the battery diags the newer ones do so they had no visibility. If you were Apple certified and used the service portal regularly you’d have gotten a notification that they were investigating the issue.

It isn’t really that funny or weird, it’s because for the most part Apple’s batteries typically don’t decline that rapidly in terms of their sustainable amperage. The batteries in question behaved abnormally, and resulted in a firmware change and a battery replacement program. If they typically had issues with

Those programs don’t launch overnight, there was a lead up to it. It’s not like they said “whoops I’m busted better instantly start a battery replacement program!”. Apple’s logistics were already geared up for it.

My fiesta ST has, since new, always made the most disconcerting transmission sounds when rolling to a stop. I miss the VW’s overbuilt gearbox :P of all the things likely to fail on a rabbit, the trans was not one of them.

It’s gonna be weird when we get to fully autonomous. Say a bunch of pedestrians are in the street to pull drivers out of their cars and beat them - and the autonomous car won’t move to get the driver to safety because there are people in the road.

It coincided with the launch of a $29 battery replacement program because the batteries dropped output as they aged - if you are looking for a conspiracy it’s not a great place to start.

The only thing Apple did wrong was not disclosing it. The update just throttled the CPU to lower the amp draw on aging batteries to stop the unexpected shutdowns. There was a good reason for it, but they *really* should have communicated it better.

I miss my mkv rabbit. Nothing fancy, bought it cash when my old car broke down on the side of the freeway - I walked up an onramp, at the top of the ramp was a VW dealer and I drove off with the new Rabbit and was perfectly happy for years. Quiet, comfortable, boring.. .and a neat engine sound.

I heard once that all Tesla’s returned off lease get warehoused somewhere. I always wondered if they all got garaged until some future date when their auto-driving hit a point where they could release fleets of autonomous Teslas to crush Uber and Lyft.

Yeah, the cars are heavy and boring and there’s not much you can do about it.

I’m fine as long as the “selectable” sound is only audible *inside* the car. If people listening to music on their phone without headphones is bad, people being able to select the externally-audible sound of their cars would be terrible.

Yeah imagine all the mumble rap loops we’d have to hear on the freeway. It would be hilarious for a few minutes but... rush hour would be maddening.

They’re just... boring. I was shopping for an electric for my wife and everything was universally bland. Sure, a tesla on insane mode is fast in a straight line, but the feeling that the car would be even faster if I wasn’t even in it is really noticeable. I want a Fiesta ST or Fiat 500 Abarth electric. Something

You just have to shoot the buffalo when they’re flying low so the wings aren’t damaged.

Oh man theres a whole new world for you lol - big bore airguns are gnarly.

PCP (precharged pneumatic) guns can make a little cloud for the first few shots when a gun is cold. You can also have a situation where after a cleaning and oiling, the residual oil can “diesel” behind the pellet when shooting. It makes a little flash and a loud sound.

After you clean a high powered airgun, if theres a little too much oil in the barrel the first shot after cleaning can “diesel” from the oil trapped behind the pellet and give a loud pop like a 22 and a little bitty flash. It’s not good for the gun and smells awful, but it can happen.

How hard is it to undo lambo doors?

I don’t know how to tell at-a-glance how old a Model 3 is yet, but all the ones I see still have awful mismatched panel gaps. Is build quality improving, or is that still a “comes with the territory” thing? I wouldn’t imagine the polestars are hurting on build quality - if Tesla hasn’t upped their game that might be a

An electric fiesta ST that goes 200 miles and charges quickly would have me sold. A hatch to store stuff? Yep! Small and easy to park? Sure! Nimble and torquey? Lets go!
