Isn’t it more that Cho said ‘you should consider getting involved with projects which give opportunities to Asians,’ and Swinton said ‘actually, I already am,’ and gave the details? I can’t see how that reflects badly on her.

I guess there is an element of damage limitation here, I just don’t recognise the version of Tilda Swinton, the cynical A-list monster who deviously manipulates people to get what she wants, from her history. Her history has been one of activism and outsiderism:
I see what you’re saying, but Cho was the person raising the issue. how is privately contacting her to say ‘hi, I’d like to understand where you’re coming from’ a disingenuous move? And who’s to say that she hasn’t contacted other people? It’s not like she gets one action to resolve this and that was it.
Also, I think…
I don’t think you have to- http://jezebel.com/tilda-swinton-sent-us-her-email-exchange-with-margaret-1790203875
This, to me, read as Swinton reaching out, admitting she doesn’t know everything about her situation, then respectfully offering her opinion too. There’s no sense of ‘please tell other asians’ or any of the…
Does the posting of the correspondence change your opinion on this at all? Because to me it and doesn’t really show Swinton in a bad light. I would say Cho comes off rather badly there:
No matter how I try, I can’t read that article without hearing anything other than the voice of Ron Burgundy in my head.
Every ethical and safety problem I have with this has been over-ridden by the uncontrollable laughter. I do not feel entirely good about this, but nonetheless I can’t breathe.
Hmm. Not sure how I feel about that. I’m generally pro-euthanasia, with some caveats. Prison strikes me as an unsafe environment for allowing that, though.
Fair warning: Euthanasia was the subject of my masters thesis, this might go on a bit!
The arguments people give for opposing the right to die tend to divide into…
For me, it’s because no system of conviction is perfect and you can’t undo executing someone, but you can set a prisoner who was wrongly convicted free. Even if a case feels cast iron, you have to allow for the possibility that at some point it might be overturned. Also, it’s not as if life in prison is a bundle of…
Not gonna argue with you much. I have to admit, I flirted with the idea of remaining an Andy Reid fan and following the Chiefs when he left my team, but I found myself losing interest. My main impression of Alex Smith is ‘I dunno, seems like a nice guy so glad he has a job?’
My god, it’s almost as if the internet provision doesn’t come from these buildings.
I take it you’ve not heard of 3G networks?
Brutal.
Well, ‘we will kick ass at special teams, turnovers and situational football by preparing for it well’ is a goal you can coach toward, right?
As a long-running Eagles fan, I still have a soft spot for Reid. Those weaknesses of his are now a little faded in my memory, like the things that were really annoying in an ex at the time but you can overlook again now. He’s a really good coach, and it’s nice to see his team winning some close games.
On another note,…
When I was a teenage boy, older teenage boys, comedians and the like, would talk about Last Tango In Paris as if it was the most amazing adult sexy film ever. It had like mythological status to hormonal, teenage boys in Britain, because of that scene and all the nudity. If you knew what it was, or you had seen it, you…
I really hope you are right. Please don’t relax though. Please don’t just assume you are right. I thought it would be alright in June before the Brexit vote. I thought it would be alright before Florida started to swing towards Trump on election night.
My view is, assholery will always be here. It has to be fought.…
‘Special snowflakes?’ Really? You can’t see the difference here?
The difference between the times Gore and Kerry lost, is that this time the winning candidate is openly, consistently racist, is loudly promising to sue a large number of women who accused him of sexual assault, is clearly being helped by America’s worst…
Oh my god you poor thing. I don’t know what to say to you other than that I am truly, truly appalled by their choice. Your message is what finally made me cry about this whole thing. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that what you’re saying really gets me deeply. I wish I could help you.
‘You care about global warming? BUT YOU HAVE A COMPUTER!’
I know what you mean- encouraging a conversation, not trying to stop it stone dead. It’s a bit like saying ‘but what about the drivers who didn’t crash? Cars are safe!’
