I mean, a running theme from the movie was juxtaposing fantasy with reality; that's why so many musical numbers ended with a joke- the traffic continuing, the phone ringing, the "Tow-Away Zone" sign. It was funny, but it was also signalling that the second half of the movie was going to be more grounded.
Eddie the Eagle was pretty mediocre, but I'd be a damned liar if I said the last fifteen minutes didn't hit me right in the heart.
