Congrats on your recovery. The sole good thing about the treatments for Hodgkin’s is that your hair becomes awesome after it grows back.

Me too. The widow seemed to completely believe him too, and she was obviously Going Through Stuff, so I didn’t talk to her about him, but holy shit. Holy shit. I know lots of bipolar people, and they’re not actively evil, but this dude is.

I don’t know what goes on in the heads of cancer fakers. I’m a survivor myself, and I know a guy in Vancouver who’s been faking cancer for about ten years now, except now he’s added Parkinson’s, so he can fundraise for a high end gaming system “To maintain my hand eye coordination.” I’ve reported him to the cops, I’ve

So glad to hear you are doing well. My husband is a cancer survivor and I cannot tell you how many people that I thought were normal, reasonable humans decided to tell me that we could cure my husband’s cancer will all sorts of bizarre “wellness” methods. One person told us to stop chemo completely and just drink one

I’m also fascinated by how susceptible even educated, intelligent people are to these scams - just look at Steve Jobs. There just seems to be a toxic combination of romanticism, arrogance and suspicion of authority that fuels the appeal and all sorts of other conspiracy theories. The internet also seems to amplify it

A good friend of mine is about to lose her mom because the mom decided to cure her cancer holistically through diet. My friend even organized an intervention to beg her mother to get treatment but to no avail. These kinds of scams do cause immeasurable harm not only to the people who fall for it but their families. My

Although, do we really want this woman wandering the halls of an oncology wing telling sick people all they have to do is eat kale and pray real hard?

I agree, there is a good chance that not only did she swindle money from people but actually kill people with her bullshit.

My boyfriend is a widower whose wife died of lung cancer at age 36. She had a genetic mutation that caused it, and it wasn’t discovered until it was already stage IV. Despite aggressive treatment, she passed away a few years ago, but not before doing everything she could to raise money for LUNGevity (an organization

I feel like this girl should be on the hook for a lot more than just duping people directly. This kind of stuff, during the era she was doing it, contributed a LOT to the rise of fake news and fake science memes in social media, as if she was able to demonstrate how obsessively people could buy in to and share

Didn’t I already see this movie?

While nurse sharks are docile for the most part, they’re still sharks. The only shark I’d be comfortable swimming near would be a whale shark. And even then, I’m not getting close.

This grade inflation is ruining our youth’s expectations.

No shame in reading YA. A lot of it is really engaging and well written!

I know he’s a dude, but one of my favorite scenes and line delivery:

Fun Fact: sharks, like dogs, usually use their mouths to grab things. So they’ll often bite something just to taste it and see what it is, and don’t intend anything aggressive or hostile with it. #cuddletimewithsharks

Seems more earnest than But I’m A Cheerleader, which is amazing in a campy OTT way. I generally enjoy re-watching Cheerleader but I doubt I’ll be able to sit down and watch this.

Something I like about the feeling of the film, at least if I’m able to separate the two actresses from each other correctly, is that this doesn’t feel like a love story within the camp, but that rather the romantic connection is to the girl outside.

I mean, if you take away the "religious reasons" for homophobia, then you just have to call it homophobia. Doesn't look as good on a flyer.

From the trailer this looks like a remake of the wonderful 90's film But I’m a Cheerleader. I wish this story wasn’t still so real and needing to be told 20 years later.
