I taught self-defense to many survivors of childhood sexual assault. Several said their parents ignored it.  

If one of my daughters were to tell me something like this, my first instinct would be to grab the sharpest or heaviest instrument I could find and annihilate the perpetrator.

Because the abuser is great and charming and because we trust adults over kids. Because a single mom is so happy to have found love again that her initial reaction is that her new boyfriend is a monster. Because a child makes an offhanded comment like in this story and isn’t weeping or screaming so the parent…

There’s also a weird domestic violence dynamic sometimes. The woman, who is often physically and mentally abused by the man, will outright defend his actions, despite having concrete evidence of the contrary.  These are the cases that force me to contain my rage.  It is exceedingly frustrating and tragic. 

They don’t take action? They ignore it?

Per the letter-writer, it’s just the term used in child advocacy circles that means calling the abuse hotline to report the crime.

Mental health professional here. Thank you for your courage in sharing your story and being brave enough to make an impossibly difficult decision. May your family find healing from this difficult situation. 

I’ve worked in law enforcement for 20 years. Sadly, many parents aren’t like you.  For what it is worth, great job. You took action immediately. This isn’t your fault, or hers.  I’m so sorry.

If you’re going to argue that he shouldn’t be confirmed because you don’t like the way you think he is going to vote on the issues... that’s how this fucking thing works.

I’m sure breastfeeding is an abomination to him - breasts exist for the sexual pleasure of men and no other reason and to suggest otherwise is an affront to his fragile bullshit.

No one is trying to deny access to formula.

Other articles make it more clear that this resolution was targeted at stopping formula companies from misinforming parents, mostly in developing countries, that formula is better than or equal to breastfeeding. 

Donald Trump made it a point of pride that he never changed a dirty diaper or took any of the kids to the park when they were growing up. He said he had no interest in his kids until they were old enough to discuss business (grifting) with him. If he doesn’t care about his own brood, He couldn’t give a single fuck…

So in a single tweet claims it is fake news and then proceeds to say that it is true.

Well, why is that mother malnourished? Could “protecting, promoting, and supporting” breastfeeding include improving her health? If she’s malnourished because she’s incredibly poor, how is she paying for formula.  If she’s in an impoverished area (especially outside the US, but let’s not exclude Flint, Michigan…

Can we just talk about how insanely stupid that tweet is, considering the full story we know concerning it? I mean, it’s borderline impressive, based on his already impressive collection of world champion stupid Tweets. I still cannot believe this is real life.
