The Facebook group sounds absolutely bonkers, but did people not realize they could just... leave or mute the group? Or just tell her they limit their social media time or something?

Larson published the story with Dorland’s letter pretty much verbatim as an audiobook.
After having read the story about three times I have concluded I am on Team Nobody for this one, haha.
The un-plagiarized letter was still so obviously the same letter too! It was like a high schooler just changing one line at a time to not get in trouble. You'd think a professional writer would be better at obfuscating her sources.
Understandable- this piece was so vague about actual details that I went to the NYT and found them (https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/05/magazine/dorland-v-larson.html). Halfway through the Jez article I had to look for details, came back and finished reading this, and apparently blanked on which article had which info.
What got me was that both were super relatable up to the point that they both went absolutely off the deep end.
Dorland inspired a different reaction, and I have never known why. Here was someone who was driven and passionate about many of the same things as me (writing, social justice, reproductive rights) but whose approach to those subjects made me feel insecure in ways I still find hard to pinpoint. We were friendly at…
*Most* American Roman Catholics are usually pro-science (except of course for the abortion issue) and pro-modern medicine. They are pretty antiquated with a lot of issues, but not with vaccines.
Are you sure that Carrie Underwood is Catholic? I thought she was raised Baptist but is now part of some non-denominational church?
The Catholic church has come out in favor of taking the vaccine and masking up. Now, some of the conservative clergy disagree, but Underwood being a hardcore Catholic isn’t a reason for her to opposed mask mandates, or vaccination. If that is her position, that’s on her.
I agree with Taylor, in that pansexual and bisexual seem to mean the exact same thing, and it’s just a generational difference. I’m an old, so I call myself bisexual, but I am attracted to trans and nonbinary people as well.
Hard disagree on the flag front though, boy oh boy do I love those bright CMYK printer-ink-cart…
You can still be bi and attracted to nonbinary people. Basically all of the bi people I’ve met ascribe to the Bisexual Manifesto definition of bi (in that it isn’t binary and encompasses attraction to multiple genders). I myself am also bisexual and nonbinary, and don't personally see any contradiction in identifying…
This is exactly why I clicked on this article. Thank you.
There’s a vast gap between “I am responsible for your medical bills” and paying for someone to travel the U.S. for 6 months while cutting themselves off from their family and support network. It sounds like the trauma may be causing him to make some questionable personal decisions which, while sad, isn’t anyone else’s…
As a not famous person, I avoid everything from high school and college too. I feel no need to relive the “glory days” as I really like my life now.
God forbid Fey should write a memoir about herself and not consider Emily Alford’s personal specific feelings!
I think the point is that we’re all an asshole to someone. None of us are perfect. There’s just something about all of us.
I thought that rant was going to end after the first mention and then she just kept going...
An article on “why I like this show” that opens with two paragraphs on “why I don’t like Tina Fey” might be the dictionary definition of “burying the lede.”
