Interesting how you sound more scared of annual inspections than you are of cops.

There are a lot of blanket answers here, but here’s a more specific one: Any 2012-2018 Ford Focus or Fiesta with the DPS6 dual-clutch transmission. It’s a shame, because they’re otherwise really good economy cars, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend an ST or a base model with a manual transmission. The used car

It’s been my experience that:

Tesla, especially CyberTruck

In addition, you can charge your EV at home the night before. While with an ICE you may have to drive around and get in line hoping to get some gas.

Yep exactly. EVs are much better in this scenario before, during, and after.

And this is shortsighted because “store extra gas”(ie. hoarding) is a big reason why there is little to no gas right now. And this will continue after the storm hits. Contrast that to an EV where all you need is ANY electric source which includes actual EV chargers AND any building/home/outlet that has electricity. So

Same if you are out of fuel. Pumps still need power to pump gas.

I recognize there are a million considerations before “hurricane evacuation” when shopping for cars, but this is one of those times where a 300+ mile range EV and a home charger really stand out as a good option. If only there weren’t decades of political rhetoric calling them stupid and not good in emergency

It needs a belt service and some tires in the near future

I guess I’m all alone but I always loved the styling of the Explorer Sport Trac Adrenalin.

I bet you can find a Buick Cascada with like 75k miles for around $14-15k. It’s FWD and should be relatively cheap to repair. It’ll have crap resale value, but at least it looks better than the Solara.  On the plus side -- no one will know what it is.  When is the last time *you* saw one of these?

I’ve always had a soft-spot for the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R.

Sounds like a lawsuit to me, flipping off cops isn’t smart, but it’s your first amendment right to do so, whether the cop likes it or not.

“Kamala Harris wants to turn America into Venezuela!” shreiks the candidate also running on a platform of government-controlled commodities pricing, a policy that was at the core of Venezuela’s economic collapse.

Got phenomenally drunk and peed all over his gear while camping, and then threw it in my car without recognizing how much pee was actually in one of the bags.

2nd time Fisker has gone broke....   Why would anybody give this guy $$$ a 2nd time?

Had a Arteon GTS (240hp diesel) and then a A5 SB. The Arteon was better in pretty much all ways, and a LOT bigger, especially the trunk.

Rear legroom:

a 2022-23 VW Arteon fits the bill. 27 cu ft of storage, significant comfort, 32 mpg, and the Golf R engine and transmission combo means 300-hp and a 4.6 0-60.
