Clearly they are selling it on the wrong site.

Agreed. I've heard the sleep with less clothes thing and even have a friend who does it, but it's about moisture and not insulation. Even on a warm-ish night, if you're clothes are still sweaty from the hike or setting up camp, change into something dry. Don't bring extra moisture into your sleeping bag.

You think the jackets are expensive, go price a first generation Walkman on eBay!

That's not actually Willy Bogner skiing, that's Chuck Patterson - a.k.a Chuck the Ripper. Willy was a skiing great but he's in his 70s now. He's been a ski film maker (and ski fashion icon) for decades though so this is one of his films, just not him skiing.

I'm certainly hopeful but not entirely convinced. That gum you like might be coming back in style but the owls are not what they seem.

The '76 Japanese Grand Prix was probably the worst, at least from Niki Lauda's perspective. He had a 3-point lead for the championship going into this final race of the season in which he suffered his horrific injury. The weather was so bad he had to retire after a couple of laps, probably handing over what could have

Like Wes says, you have to go mummy. Minimal volume to heat and good insulation - preferably down. Take a look at the winter bags from Feathered Friends as well as some of the online feedback. Not cheap, but built to perform and last.

I was always partial to this one.

Another option is to make your own liner. You can get fleece material cheaply at any fabric store, trim it to the shape of your bag and sew. It's a pretty simple job as long as you have access to a sewing machine. Probably be <$20 versus $50-60 for the Sea to Summit Reactor, and warmer too. I'm going to make one to

The Eddie Bauer bag seems to follow the system Big Agnes has used successfully for years, though their bags don't have the pad permanently sewn in. The benefit to that is you can swap the pads between bags. I have two BA bags ( 40 degree and 15 degree) plus three pads ranging from a compact, light uninsulated 2" pad

Just a beautiful aircraft. A year ago I finally made it to the Evergreen Air Museum. It was a quiet mid-week day and the place was empty. I was walking across the massive parking lot between the two main buildings and parked in a deserted far corner of the lot was a Starship just sitting there, barricades blown over.

To that point, wasn't there a uniform variation for "Yesterday's Enterprise" with an extra high collar when they were in the wartime reality?

If I had to cut though a live wire, I'd want to have an LMF II. Batoning a log, not so much. Ontarios are great knives and a great value too. ESEE is still the better brand but they do cost more and can get outside of peoples budget.

I certainly can't speak for Wes, but there are a number of factors why people in general don't like them. Sure, the BG branding is obnoxious, but worse it's almost always the hallmark of a low- to mid-range mass consumer targeted product. Look at the stuff that it's on - heavy pop-up tents, poor quality sleeping bags,

I loathe the BG marketing machine as much as everyone, but the reality is some of the knives aren't entirely horrible. This has nothing to do with BG but more to the fact that Gerber can still, albeit inconsistently, turn out a decent knife (Prodigy, LMF II, mainly their US-produced stuff) though admittedly there are

Maybe if they stretch it to a true 4-seat version they can call it the Asspada.

I hadn't seen that yet. It looks interesting, pretty much a direct competitor for this stove. I adore the Reactor and originally chose it over Jetboil for it's extra capacity (they didn't have the larger Jetboils at the time) and robustness. What I miss is a little extra versatility for those times when I could use

The ability to simmer could make me swap my MSR Reactor for this alone, but the integrated measuring cup seals the deal. Why don't more backpacking cups have legible measuring markings? Question - do you know if this is compatible with the existing Jetboil skillet or will they have a compatible one?

Impulsive choice on my part
