I wouldn’t be surprised if Chevy and Ford take Rivians skateboard chassis and put their own cabs on them. It would be literally the easiest way to have a competitive electric pickup with their branding in the shortest amount of time.

Any Wrangler that runs and drives for under $10k is a nice price all day. Yes it needs a little TLC but it doesn’t get simpler than a carbureted wrangler. You could fix it with a hammer.
I had 14 JKU Sport S and it took care of most (power accessories, leather heated seats, remote start, and towing) of those issues but not the biggest one...Rubicon envy. You can make a sport as capable as a Rubi but as soon as you start adding bumpers, lockers, tires, and winches you’ll wonder why you didn’t just fork…
I totally agree with the JT. I could get a LT Trail Boss, put a pre-runner kit on it (becuz Racetruck), and STILL come out $10k less than the JT I’d buy.
I think there might be a few things going on.
Addendum to truck rule. They must be single cab long bed manual v6's with vinyl flooring and a milk create instead of a an actual seat because “hOnEsT wOrK TrUcK”™. All of the long bed praising carpenters of Jalopnik seem to spend quite a bit more time commenting on here instead of building houses.
Remember when you make it to the top, we only want brown diesel manual wagons, single cab long bed trucks, and air-cooled 911's. /s
Neutral. I don’t expect it to be truly catastrophic but it will suck. Disrupting these supply chains will cause extra overhead for all manufactures and parts suppliers with operations in Mexico. Instead of eating the cost they’ll just raise the prices of cars and push the cost of this change in logistics onto the…
I hate how likely this is. The current mustang is incredibly good. I seriously hope they don’t outright replace it with an electric CUV blob.
Oh I’m well aware. I’ve owned 2 JK’s and can’t wait for these to hit the market. Hell my flare for this sight is an AEV Brute. The Raptor and the Gladiator are certainly comparable. They are both factory off-road pickups and arguably the most interesting on the market. They just cater to different niches ie rock…
A well optioned Rubicon is approaching off-lease Raptor pricing. That’s a hard pill to swallow.
$62k gets you a full loaded Rubicon with every bell and whistle. But if you play with the configurator a bit you can get the price down to the ~$55k which is still a good bit for a midsize truck. But this thing is brand new and I’d expect the price to drop a bit over time.
Yes there are drain plugs so you can hose out the interior BUT there are 2 big caveats. 1. The electronics are not completely waterproof so you cant spray the center stack. 2. You have to remove the carpet to even get to the drain plugs. I rhino-lined the floorboards on both of my wranglers and cannot recommend it…
Huffy, Schwin, and Mongoose are all basically dead department store (remember those?) bike brands. They zombie along but don’t put out any decent product anymore. The new hotness in American Mountain bikes are companies like Santa Cruz and Yeti who build stuff like this...
Exactly!!! Midsize is the new full-size. Full-size is the new 2500. The 2500+ is now so insanely capable it could tow a train. Manufactures had to bring back midsize BECAUSE full-size trucks have gotten so big/capable/expensive. It’s enthusiast/consumers that haven’t adopted to the shift yet But they’ll figure it out.
Full size examples that all are all new v8 4x4 quad cab’s with leather.
Here’s 3 examples.
Seriously, the drivability and capability of midsize trucks make a strong argument over full size trucks. I love my Seirra’s v8 and how roomie the interior is but driving it in a city or parking deck, even with backup cams and sensors, is nerve racking. It’s just too damn big. I’ll probably go to a midsize for my next…
Crack pipe. For $5k more you can get a decent spec quad cab with leather, parking sensors (you’ll need those), tech pack, a V8, and much better resale value. Single cabs only make sense for fleet vehicles not for the average family (wo)man who does DIY home repairs and occasionally pulls a trailer\boat. If you can’t…
It’s only about an hour a ride plus 15 minutes driving. I go 3 to 4 times a week as it’s my cardio workout. If I lived further from my local trails it would eat a lot more time but right now it’s about equivalent to going to a gym.
