What could be less miata-ish than an NC era Mazda Mx5? Everything about it flies in the face of miata fan boys: it’s bigger, it’s heavier, it's more luxurious but it's better in every way possible

That Saturn has aged really well. Less fond of the Pontiac.

Well, if you don’t want a Miata, I can’t really help you, but this might:

I know what you’re thinking, but what I do is, I write out these comments long hand, then mail them to my brother in Santa Fe and he posts them for me (thanks, Josh!). The tricky part is thinking far enough ahead to anticipate the articles and these little back and forth exchanges. Sometimes I totally whiff and end up

Not to worry, we shall implement an all-analog backup camera for you with NTSC cameras and CRTs for the display!

maybe tucked under the hatch spoiler?

I mean, probably the same things that happened when we became alarmingly comfortable driving with cruise control. Or stability control and ABS. Or automatic transmissions. Or backup sensors. Or at highway (60+ mph) speeds. Or interacting with stoplights. Or even lane markings.

On the other hand, what better way to remember?  What better way to force people to clean their roof (assuming they value using their mirror, of course).

I thought they were bringing this back...

The Nissan GT-R’s door handles are flush too, albeit not power-operated, and that’s been around since 2007.

Why is this shit so hard. Flush handles have been around for decades, and without the need of motors or their associated failures. Stop trying to find the most complicated solution possible and just use something simple and reliable.

Are these the same design that keeps bystanders from rescuing drivers from burning Teslas?

I liked Lincoln’s spin on door handles with the newest Continental better than these “seamless” ones.

I would like to take this moment to mention this somewhat related fact:

As someone who occasionally hoses out the bed of their truck (a Tacoma even), I feel confident in saying that it’ll take longer to hook the hose up to this thing than it does to do it the old fashioned way.

Perfect for filling up a redneck swimming pool.

My spouse also hated them.  Then she sat in one.  Then we bought one.

AND you can still get it with a Twin Turbo V6 with over 350 HP.... Rad.

Thank you. Every other carmakers response to the OPEC oil crisis was chimpy low displacement motors, Pontiacs response was a 455 with a 4 speed. Thats the closest thing to a middle finger a carmaker can deliver. It still makes me sad GM sent them to the cornfield.

My favorite:
