No lowballers, I...

Indeed - my friend’s Dad had a Granada Ghia almost identical to this pic, and he thought he was all that. Even worse, the dick went and put a spoiler on the back of it.

Sit tight. The front bumper of your comment is here, but the rear bumper is a still a few minutes out.

Wrong!

Fun fact about the Ghia (and possibly some other models of the Mustang II) - it had a muffler with a “two into one” design. Not a resonator, but the final muffler itself, which was pretty weird for the time:

And to be fair, the fastback wasn’t a terrible looking car. It was terrible in every other way, but the lines were right.

That sinkhole is the best thing to ever happen to the Corvette Museum, and they know it. They’ve dedicated so much floor space to exhibits on the damned sinkhole. Models, geological exhibits, a simulator that lets you pick the cars out of the hole.

Sorry, we’ve only got Eggshell, Blanco, and Beiga Corsacova.

They are to be sacrificed...thrown into the pit, as an offering.

I heard that the new Editorial Director at The Drive is prone to press vehicle mishaps.

Even that base model is way overpriced for how old it is. IMO this version should be maybe 150-200k, and the base model GTR ought to compete with the corvette, starting around 60k.  The whole point of the GTR and the reason it had the reputation it did is that it was a sort of normal priced car that would compete with

For less than a million I can have a McLaren and a GTR Alpha 16.

Retouched or not that’s a lot of scratch for a car that debuted for under $70k, over a decade ago...

What kind of “experts” don’t suggest a Honda Accord Sport 2.0T which is a similar motor to the Type R.   Comes in a Manual Transmission and is a great family sedan and what I’d expect would be Honda reliability.

I think the problem here is that you can’t actually market this thing to people who don’t know about cars. There’s no wool-pulling. It’s not like the Urus (I finally have an excuse to drive a Lambo!) or some heritage-laden tweedmobile (Careful with the Jag, darling).

Lots of car names became famous to normies for

Kinda like the Fiata.

Japanese styling.  German reliability.  They got it backwards.

It just takes one image, and the knowledge that it starts at under $60k to answer this question:

All summer long I appreciate how easy it is to get in and out of my doorless Jeep and lament the turning of the weather.

It really must suck to have a kids and a dog in the US, when you like to drive. You have to buy some kind of crossover, minivan or SUV. Or the rare wagon with crossover cladding. Ugh.
