Very easy to operate, yet people are complaining about the e92's steering input. It only get’s a little difficult when you’re parallel parking.

God, and here I thought the e92 steering was a little dull.
Really? Driving my e92 is relaxing compared to a 71 2002 with power nothing.
I guess I can be emotional
Being slightly scared, a light chassis, manual, just enough grip, and a motor that takes skill to fully utilize.
Theoretical displacement. I know, I don’t like it either, but it makes sense. Turbos threw everything off.
The BMW SOHC 2.0 was much torquier than the Alfa motors
I’m not really interested in any new BMW. I was excited for the M2 (M2/2002 garage dream), but then I found out it isn’t even 100lbs lighter than the M4.
Sure, I live north of DC. Come take it for a spin.
LOL
Going for a (mostly) period correct modified 2002. Something that would be at home in California in the 70s and 80s. Lower, stiffer, grippier, light blue window tint, custom wood roof rack, navy blue velour Recaros. What more could you ask for?
140whp is a great amount for a 2002. I have about (I’m guessing) 100-105 at the wheels and the car is the best driving experience I’ve had. For them to make 160 at the rear wheels they’d really have to spend some money on that engine.
I read a few other write-ups and the car has 140 at the rear wheels, which makes more sense. Like I said, probably 121 head, custom pistons (unless they are lying and it’s actually 9.5:1 which is much more common), probably a 292 cam, and 40s, everything else really doesn’t matter (header, intake, etc. Let me know if…
I can guarantee that does not equal 200+ at the fw. 180-185. You lose 10-20%, but due to the cars simplicity and light package the loss is definitly on the low end. I looked it up though and it’s 140hp/150lbs at the wheels. So, 170 at the fly. Couldn’t find what head, but most likely the 121 head, port and polish, and…
I’d assume that by your spelling of tire, you are in the UK. Trust me, I wanted 13s or 14s, but tire selection was awful. At least for the US 13s and 14s were either Hoosier slicks or cheap all-weather Chinese tires. Being in college I wanted to get something inexpensive and dependable. Found steel wheels, but bmw…
Weber 32/36 currently. It’s a zippy car. I’ll potentially slap on a 38/38. Dual 40s are really a waste unless you have HC, hot cam, upgraded head, and other performance upgrades. It’s all about compression.
I know CleverUsername personally and he has a motor swapped 02. And this past month I’ve spent most of my weekends in his garage putting an m20 in another friend’s car. Twas an inside joke.
Most modifications are fine, but under no curcircumstance should anyone EVER do a motor swap.
Spring, Summer, and Fall. Really as long as it’s at least 45 out. One of the best classic cars to makeep into a daily. Getting a 5 speed and rebuilding my motor right now to make it a better highway car and fix a few small issues. I put in some vintage sports seats, did a few things and the car is very versitile. The…
These are 15s. Notridiculous. These days you need 15s to get decent tires. Trust me, I’ve seen 17s and those look stupid. Almost everyone I know that owns an 02 runs 15s.
