I agree, however, one caveat. The reason that many poor and working class people don’t vote in their own interest isn’t because their stupid or unable to grasp the broader political concepts. It’s just a matter of free time. The fact that we can sit here, chatting on the internet about politics is a luxury. The

Well, since every single poll shows him doing better against republicans than Clinton, and espeically better against Trump, I am glad we can count on your vote for Sanders. Thanks!

Well, the Internet is such a weird place... Lots of people say things that they wouldn’t dare say to another person face to face, but bad-mannered people are everywhere.

And who is saying this? Clinton supporting pollsters! There is no way on earth that Sanders is getting the support he is WITHOUT media backing that Clinton / GOP have or any black / latino support!

It’s still the case that legally, Vermont seceded from New York. You’re trying to imply a closeness between Vermont and New Hampshire that historically and currently doesn’t exist. They are very small states, and they are side by side, but for various reasons, including culture reinforcement due to self-selected

Sanders has never been elected as a Democrat.*

Vermonters are not libertarians.

Vermont seceded from New York, not New Hampshire.

* I believe he has now registered as a Democrat, and he has always caucused with the Democrats in Congress. He also better reflects current values and policy preferences among Democratic

That’s not accurate. New Hampshire’s culture and demographic makeup is VERY diffferent from Vermont’s. When he announced, she was way, way above him in the NH polls. Believe me, it is not a good sign for HRC that NH Dems are moving away from her.

I’m pretty skeptical of that analysis. The more obvious reason Sanders is doing better than average in those states, which the article mentions but then discounts without any analysis, is that those are the states where people are paying the most attention to the race. 538 seems like they’re really reaching to find a

A candidate cannot win without at least some obnoxious supporters; do we all forget the hordes of Obama fans?

Sanders has made his case. The article linked is six months old.

Why are you sharing a six month old article?

Hence why the world ended up with eight years of Dubya, the consequence being a million refugees that my country now has to clothe, feed and shelter for the rest of their lives in many cases, all thanks to the decisions of the American voter.

Given that blacks and hispanics vote Republican in significantly lower numbers than “kindly white people”, they are actually less inclined to vote against their own best economic interests and thus, more politically savvy.

You blame Sanders for not pandering to you during the last three decades, when he represented an electorate with less than one percent of African Americans during most of his political career in a state a thousand miles away from you? What could Sanders actually have done for you with the power he had at his disposal?

It’s it patronizing to say low-income Republicans vote against their own best interests?

Oh, ok. Sure. I guess hurt feelings because someone is “talking down to you” is a really good reason to fuck yourself over when given the one tiny bit of power you have.

You mean the election that was fairly blatantly stolen with the help of Governor Jeb Bush and Diebold?

I live in NH. I’ve spoken to Republicans who intend to vote for Bernie because he’s authentic. He is who he has always been, and they respect that.

I agree that Bernie is to the left of Hillary, but I would vote for either one, whoever gets the nomination. I’ll vote in the primary, but since I’m in Colorado, it will probaby be decided by the time I get the chance anyway. The technically correct was a joke, though. From Futurama, as Umrguy helpfully pointed out.

Most people don’t know what is good for them, when it comes to making voting decisions that benefit their own socio-economic interests.
