I think a big difference between my earlier experiences and current experience is due to the change of platform. Obviously back in the day, online multiplayer was the the solely the dominion of PC gamers, and we relied on keyboard chat. You could only talk as much trash as you can type while trying to nail someone

Oh crap. I got learn'd.

Yeah, I know how Plus works. I'm just wondering about that one line that I emphasized in the XBL disclaimer: must download titles within designated window. With Plus you can "purchase" the free game at any time, and download whenever you want as long as you purchase it within the available timeframe. However, the

I was literally going to post the exact same article. Since you beat me to it, I'll have to post this bit of awesome from the Daily Show.

... you said nipple... *self-flagellates until impure thoughts dissolve*

Maybe that's why it's so scary. If I use my girlfriend as reference, I'd spend all my time telling myself to stop playing video games and having pervert fantasies of inhabiting the minds of other women. And take out the garbage. And walk the dog. And eat this thing I made.

Honestly, I can't think of anything more stressful than moderating relentless waves of internet hostility. I can barely handle it when someone occasionally insults myself or a friend, but to have dozens of people do that daily, I'd probably go insane. Then again, I'm sure you guys have developed a pretty thick skin in

First of all, Azula struck me as oddly attractive. I dunno... I just wanted to get into that show and just... help her somehow. So yeah, I totally get the "monstrous, terrible, and vulnerable" take on her.

Agreed. I do have to say though, I play MtG in fits and starts, usually with three or four years between, and man it just ain't the same game I played in middle school (I started in 3rd Edition, getting my chops in Fallen Empires [heh] and Ice Age). So many rules... so much I don't know... I just can't keep up, and

It's funny because I'd just made the Street Fighter comparison in an earlier response, but I gave Hex a bit more benefit of the doubt. To me it seemed like a comparison between Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, where the games had similar core concepts (2D, special moves, life bar, combos) but resulted in a very

I appreciate the warning. I guess I'll just stay in my bunker playing Street Fighter, Mercenary Kings, and TowerFall with my buddies. Thank god for indies bringing back local multiplayer!

Part of me doesn't think that MtG will set a negative precedent with this. From what I've heard so far, more than 2/3rds of the mechanics in Hex are lifted and renamed from MtG. A lot of TGCs have a few basic similarities, but I don't think I've ever seen something as brazen as this. As long as folks don't do this

Not having played Hex yet (and being extremely rusty with MtG), your comparison is extremely helpful.

I remember the days of mplayer and heat.net, and in those days I really enjoyed the online communities and the personalities in them. Sure, there would be an occasional troll even back then, but it was never to the point where it freaked me out (although there was one time someone impersonated me in a MUD and had the

In a new feature at Wired, writer Laura Hudson (disclosure: we're dating) has shared the results of months of research and interviews about online harassment. In it, she focuses not on harrowing stories of victims (believe me, there are plenty), but rather on possible solutions. She argues that long-term solutions

I genuinely think what you did is awesome and badass... but at the same time I couldn't help but think of Clayton Bigsby:
