Agreed on both counts. I just replayed Zero recently so the quote happened to be fresh in my mind. If anything, Pixy has more in common with Rusty, right down to his penchant for calling you “buddy.”

“You and I are opposite sides of the same coin. When we face each other, we can only see our true selves. There may be a resemblance, but we can never face the same direction.”

Cait Sith gets to join the group of Western terms that are more correctly pronounced in Japanese than how they’re popularly pronounced in the West, along with Cerberus, Automata, Caesar.

Also, read a book, read a book, read a motherf'in book.

Who wants to bet Kenny will change the name of his V-Trigger to Drive Impact when SF6 comes out?

I think we're long overdue for a new Otogi, as well.

My friend, to explain why the Deck’s track pads and buttons matter for emulation, let me start by describing how Steam makes the absolute BEST use of Sony’s DS4 and DS5 controllers: fully remappable trackpad. You can map ANYTHING to that trackpad. Want to use it as a mouse? Easy. Want to add some macros? Done.

You got me there. I was playing an old, somewhat obscure PS2 hack & slash called Bujingai (imagine Gackt as a hyper-stylized space-faring Chinese kung-fu swordsman), and the game has a wall-running mechanic that requires you to hold the jump button to stay glued to the wall. Naturally, this makes it very difficult to

I should probably restate “superior” as “cheaper,” as there are a lot of portable retro consoles that can readily play up to fifth gen games (PSX) and some sixth gen stuff (PS2) for much, much cheaper, like around $100 to $200. Though it’s kind of a crapshoot getting a reliable one amid all the dubious hardware, I’ve

Indeed, considering that Patches and the Moonlight Greatsword (in some form) were all in Armored Core before they ever appeared in a Souls game, there’s more Armored Core DNA in Souls than people seem to realize.

Also own both, and it really comes down to exclusives and multi-plat for me. The Switch has exclusives I can’t play anywhere else (such as the aforementioned Bayo 3, and the only version of DMC 3 that includes full weapon- and style-switching), and that’s about it. The Deck has multi-platform games that can be made por

The problem with this is that it kind of defeats the purpose of Viola, which is to have someone with intense magical potential, tempered by Luka’s bumbling but good-natured character, which allows them to start fresh with a weaker character who can grow into an entirely new person, rather than another powerful and

“She winds up in a “destined relationship” with some pathetic loser she’s never shown any interest in for seemingly no reason besides they didn’t want to make thier lead queer in text.”

Very much yes. Previous experience with prior games will of course amplify the experience, especially in the final sequences. But if you don’t care about the lore and just care about the game, this is a title with an incredible diversity of weapons, sub-weapons (in the form of demons), mechanics, locales, and methods

I think this is exactly it. The irony is that back in the day, people complained about how Bayonetta was objectifying women as some sort of sex symbol. Now, they’re mad because they think they can no longer objectify her as their sex symbol of choice (despite how there’s nothing to stop them from doing so).

It bugs me that there are significant gameplay issues with Bayo 3 beneath its otherwise sublime combat, but literally none of that gets addressed in these articles. I’ve thrown in about 80 hours and I friggin love this game, but things like giant bosses completely disappearing if they block the camera, the excessively

It’s kind of ironic. When Bayo first came out, there was this huge uproar about how Bayo was the epitome of feminine objectification, and was nothing more than a sex object for men to oogle over, a notion amplified by people who never played the game.

I think the “repetitive” complaints come more the author’s distaste for the narrative and their disappointment with how Bayo ostensibly lost socio-political value for them; I feel like they were too bummed to actually dig into the gameplay, which is unfortunate.

I love how Viola is basically ignored here, and treated only with passive aggressive resentment. Maybe she’s too young for folks to project their sexuality on?

Exactly. We have ONE Bayo who decided to shack up with Mr. Silver Medal. I’m not a fan of the ship, but the whole point of this story is that there are countless Bayo’s with countless personalities, with the only constant being immense power and fighting ability (as far as we know), so there can literally be a Bayo
