Everybody thinks they’re the oldest person on the internet

Eh...Pixy at least still had respect for Cipher. Iguazu has more in common with Crimson 1 from Project Wingman.

Yeah, this clearly isn’t a Sony decision.

Not that I want to let Sony off of any hooks, but is it Sony that’s the main bad guy here, or is this because of more Warner chicanery “for tax breaks”?

Torrenting can't be stealing if paying for it isn't owning.

Dont blame  Sony blame  the company  that revoked  Sony license  from distribution  of said media its more then just Sony its the discovery  channels  fault more for taking sonys rights

Contracts don't make them immune to legal action. It just makes things more complicated

That is a false narrative (edit: because we weren’t debating if a bad game that was not fun was worth $70 - we were debating if $70 is acceptable for a quality game), but one you are welcome to. Grindy games exist, yes, but most people go into those games knowing that, and if not they generally don’t continue. That

“by your logic a game could cost $100's but still cost less per hour than going to a concert”

... you could consume video games as art, and compare them to the price of movies, music and art galleries.
... you can consume them as personal hobbies and compare them to the price of woodworking, crafting or fishing.
... you can consume them as distractions from reality and compare them to the price of alcohol,

its 10 bucks more. i spend more for red robin burgers than mcdonalds, but if i want a really good burger, ill get red robin because the quality is worth the cost. bg is an outlier, most big budget games are going to be 70 going forward. if you dont like it, you can replay older games, lots of them have good replay

True, but development is also much more complicated. FF6 had a dev team of 50-60 for 1 year. BG3 (to use a recent example) was in development for 6 years with a dev team of 450, although not all of them would have been working on the game for the full time. Still, you’re looking at less than a hundred person-years to

Entertainment is entertainment you could compare anything you want if you really want to. I didn’t say you wanting to compare game prices was moot (vs comparing a movie), to clarify I was referring to you thinking a publisher pricing their game lower as a comparison was moot. $70 for a game is not going to be an every

I paid more than $60 for SNES games on release, and that was in 90s money. If you take inflation into account, game prices have dropped by half over the last 30 years.

I’m comparing it to cost of entertainment.  Using baldur’s gate as an example is moot because realistically they could have (and should have) received more per copy than they asked for.  A publisher/developer charging less is always welcome, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth more and would be unacceptable if they

When you consider the hours consumed vs the price tag $70 is not that much money. I expect dragon’s dogma to give at least 40 hours (more than likely much more). That is still less than $2/hr. Compared to a movie ticket that is a damn steal. I feel less bothered by this, than I do all these streaming services

We must be playing different games because Starfield absolutely craps the bed in the cities. Huge performance drops compared to other parts of the game.

but the people making the games aren’t setting the price, their bosses are. Your beef is with suite level employees and you’re letting them off scott free.

Yeah I’m still not clear on what he’s driving at, what he thinks the difference here is? It kind of sounds like he’s drawing the line at game mechanics versus basically just walking around getting jumpscared by stuff?
