Those festivals were in stadiums or other venues with contracted vendors where outside retailers were not permitted.

Because most “Summer Festivals” I’ve been to in the past 5 years (apart from State Fairs, which are not “Festivals”) have only ever had food trucks as their food vendors.

It’s fine and the people who complain about it are much more annoying than the thing itself.
