The only thing that matters this weekend is that the Cubs are going to the World Series! For this 48-year-old, life-long fan, it's about time.

Somehow I was completely unfamiliar with his work, but I also found the clips funny, and very reminiscent of Jim Gaffigan (I wouldn't be surprised if Meaney was an influence). Edgy and dark seems to dominate these days, but just being goofy and fun still has a place in comedy.

I believe she did a "Norma Desmond" type character at least once on her show, to great effect.

10-year-old-me, back in the late '70's, loved the show.

I've never been to the Anne Frank house, but one of the highlights of my summer was seeing the abandoned Lisa Frank headquarters while I was in Tucson.

I live in an extremely rural area and only lock my door when leaving town overnight. So that was normal for me!

That's the one that really hit me, too.

I agree. I was surprised that Columbine was less about gun control and more about how many Americans have been manipulated by fear from the right wing to believe that gun ownership is the only thing keeping the scary brown people (or government "jack-booted thugs") from getting them.

I hear you can get almost anything through the prison black market if you have enough cigarettes.

Why does Martha Stewart look younger every time I see her?

I have that record, as well as one from Mad magazine from about 1980. I remember singing it to my 6th grade teacher during recess.

I'm a pretty healthy eater, but Fritos and onion dip is a greasy, processed Nirvana.

Holy shit, he's 69. It's not a good year for the almost-70-year-old entertainers of the world, so how about if he speeds up that timeline a bit, just in case?

Wow. The "Words escape me." review quote at the end pretty much sums it up!

The Kenny & Allison scene reminded me of Brad's "unsaid" coming out to Sue in The Middle last season, just because, as you said, it was so sweet and was done with a light touch.
And hey, how 'bout those Cubbies?

I think that is the worst instance of "glossing over" in the show. Even if students and individual staff are cool with a gay student, as a Catholic institution it's unlikely they would be so welcoming. That being said, I actually did some checking and it's not unheard of for a Catholic school to at least have a Gay

A second on the quality of The Middle last night! I laughed more during the sequence at the dinner table ("opening the storm window…") than the entirety of O'Neals.

My grandmother named my father Charles, always called him that, and insisted other people did. However, his family by marriage all called him Chuck, and many of his friends called him Charlie. It is possible reinvent yourself, name-wise.

Am I missing something or is that the most glorious typo ever?

The Gawker sites have come up with some great ones.
