I totally agree there’s a whole layer baggage around the tired 80's stereotype of Jocks vs. nerds that weighs down conversation about sports and video game fandom. I think there’s a similar barrier to understanding the esports phenomenon, when the conversation stays fixated on esports lacking physical requirements.
