Lol, we have a word for this type of fan...“delusional”

Have you ever watched the Devils play? 20 goals is a miracle on that team. 53 points in 70 games is very, very good given that circumstance. And he had by far the lowest shooting percentage of his career.

The issue is that the Oilers got terrible value for Hall. Larsson is a fine second pairing defenseman and good player in his own right, but he is at least 4 tiers down the “value” rankings. They could have gotten so much more for him.

Yeah, that’s it. They could have gotten so much: high first round pick and solid prospect, or just a straight-up elite prospect, or a big package with a bunch of pieces. Getting a decent 2nd pairing defenseman for one of the best wingers in the league is brutal.

Eh, I still don’t think the trade is looking good now. McDavid and Draisatl (who is the most under-hyped young star ever) are why Edmonton is thriving. Larsson has been a fine defenseman, but Hall is an elite player. Two goals in a game doesn’t change any of that.

Yeah, ESPN is basically just making itself the NBA & NFL network officially. With a little MLB thrown in to cover the summer dog days.

Someone using Lane Kiffin as their alias has very confusing and potentially concerning motivations.

You know Tom works at Deadspin, right?

#1 is the only potential rule change that would have a real impact. But my issue is more with the inconsistency of calls. That’s what really kills me at the end of the game when there’s 30 seconds left and someone tries to draw a foul by driving, running into the defensive player, and flailing their arms. It’s shit to

It’s not necessarily the end of game slowness that irks me. It irks me throughout the game, it’s just that the stakes are so high and the consequences very immediate in the last few minutes, and the game flow and strategy changes a bit. So it would be somehow, some way, figuring out what to do about fouls.

Shit like this, along with the seemingly complete randomness of foul calls on drives, makes basketball (especially college, but also NBA) near-unwatchable to me. It’s so frustrating to sit through the last few minutes of a close game and basically just accept the fact that the whistles dictate the outcome of the game.

You’ve changed your point dramatically from that first post...I think your biggest issue is that you’re mushing murder in with other crimes. You say that a large number of crimes are being swept under the rug and you talk about sports becoming a toxic environment. Those are both true things, but they are not relevant

Pence wishes he was half as smart as Herbstreit.

Well that’s a completely new and different point, and your first sentence kind of negates the original point that you made. In my opinion, to put even a little bit of his being a murderer on society or sports or money or fame is wrong and disingenuous.

The big “connection” you’re missing here is the part where Hernandez kills another person.

US News and World Report, 2016. You can go to the high school’s website, scroll to the bottom. 31st best school in Connecticut too, which is a pretty wealthy state with a good education system. Maybe that’s indicative of how bad the rest of our school system is, but the point remains that he didn’t go to some terrible

Wow. Bringing this out of the grays so others can see this crazy logic.

Wow that’s a really airtight argument you provided there!

Hopefully the vast majority of his estate goes to the families of the people he murdered.

It wasn’t about “just a football player” it was that some people can maintain some perspective and avoid raping, beating, threatening, and murdering people, and some people can’t after that kind of training.
