update because I just happened to stumble across this thread again in search results for something completely unrelated: 4.5 years later and this desktop is still rocking same as it was in ‘12, and still benching higher than most everything out there =x

This seemed pretty obvious to me. The headline asked “why do they use such old processors”, but 1) last year isn’t exactly “old”, and 2) the “new” processors simply aren’t out yet. I mean...no-brainer.

The annoying thing is, ideally there shouldn’t be any hit *at all*, since it’s still using the same total number of pixels and running at the same framerate. It’s just rendering two cameras instead of one, at half the resolution each. Yet somehow the 3DS still took a perf hit in 3D mode in some games? Doesn’t make

GoGo updating their proxy servers to filter traffic on 3128 in 3... 2.....

I really wish they’d have made the Switch screen 3D, since I love the glasses-less 3D concept quite a bit. I’m fine with it not being 3D though, if it means it can make the image quality in portable mode better as a result.

why would anyone do that? If anything, I want a button that makes Steam believe I’m playing it 24/7.

for what it’s worth, it is the Wii U version they’re showing...

Except smartphones and tablets are total garbage for playing games on.

“for a system that can’t really be upgraded”

it seems like it shouldn’t be that hard to create something like that which would actually work. the problem right with all the devices right now seems to be the positioning/angle and size of the stick (analog vs hatswitch aside).

No, I mean, that’s the thing; I *do* need an analog stick. That’s the whole point of wanting a new input device. I want to have the analog movement control of a gamepad, yet retain all the inputs of a keyboard. The analog stick is the only reason I’m looking for an alternative input device in the first place;

yeah, i’m not really sure it’ll be an issue. I have several 3DS, and the XL models are the ones I always end up taking with me and playing. My poor old tiny OG 3DS hasn’t been turned on probably in two years.

It seems like a foregone conclusion, really. Given that the Switch is both a console and a handheld, all anyone needs to do is release one game and they’ve covered both market segments.

Any game that benefits from both analog movement and mouse aiming. FPS (and FPS-like) primarily, but some third-person games would work really well with it too.

It’s designed that way so you can detach both sides and use them as individual controllers — the Dpad becomes its own set of ABXY buttons when detached. But yeah, I’m hoping they release an alternate version that has a regular ‘plus’ dpad. I mean, since it’s all modular anyway, it’s totally feasible.

well, yes, obviously. For a game like GTA, I’d switch between the wheel and a more standard keyb/mouse as needed. Different controls are optimal for different play styles, and that includes different play styles within the same game. lol

I always felt kinda hesitant to use utilities like that, primarily out of concerns for latency or other weirdness, but I’ve resorted to it on a few occasions. I have a couple older gamepads, but lately I’ve been using an XB1 controller pretty much exclusively and it’d be kinda hard to go back to my old nyko. lol

I’m not surprised. I know when RE4 got released it didn’t even support mouse, and I don’t know whether they ever got around to fixing that.

Right. Nostromo, Tartarus, Orbweaver. Problem is, unless I’m mistaken, none of them have analog thumbsticks =/

I really wanted one of the Razer game...board...things. But as far as I’m aware, they all just have hat switches for the thumb control, where I’m looking for something with an actual analog stick. I’m considering the G13, despite the degree to which I generally dislike Logitech products, as it seems to be the only one
