Indeed. For $100 for the software, and $100 per voicebank, you have a vocalist, a face, and a community for your music. That’s a pretty great deal.

oh god, that narrator. haha. <3

Sounds basically like an expanded version of the Planetary Interaction system from EVE Online.

If anything you’re totally off the mark — given that the Vocaloid phenomenon is totally and completely fan-driven, and anyone can buy and use the Vocaloid software and voicebanks, if you don’t have talent you won’t succeed as a Vocaloid producer. The people that make Vocaloid music don’t have vapid celebrity

driving fifteen hours to see this with friends in NYC this time next month. As both a fan and musician, I’m super hyped.

as mentioned by another poster, and something I hadn’t even thought about — the phones will still have to have DAC/preamp components in them, because of their built-in speakers. so really the only thing being removed from the equation is the 3.5mm jack itself. That doesn’t exactly take lots of space. Optical drives

yeeeah, the thing about DVDs and Parallel is, they were both replaced by things that are superior in every way. USB drives are smaller, less fragile, faster to write to, and easier to read/write/rewrite in general. USB, meanwhile, is much less cumbersome than Parallel, and much faster.

I honestly found Command to be just....intensely boring. I was incredibly disappointed. =/

Also I think I can safely say I don’t think I ever expected to have such stimulating discussion about theism and philosophy and such on a Dr. NerdLove article. =x

Indeed, the natural culmination of the aforementioned lines of thought is that, the thing that becomes more uncertain the more you think about it is just what exactly the definition of a ‘God’ even is.

God as The Universe is definitely an intriguing concept, and looking out at the vastness of space, I certainly find it plenty relatable. That said, as you suggested, that angle seems more philosophical or metaphoric than purely theistic.

Oh I totally agree; I was just suggesting based on the knowledge we have that, assuming the universe’s existence as we know it as a given, the eventual emergence of sentient life on at least one planet somewhere within that universe is practically guaranteed. The origins of life itself are murky, and difficult to

the only thing i want to comment on here is the bit about the odds of us existing ‘by accident’ — i would perhaps argue that the odds are quite high, all things considered.

the bible itself clearly states, in multiple locations, that biblical law cannot be ‘cancelled’. e.g.:

eh, that just means you and I apparently use ‘deny’ differently. what you’re saying is notionally identical to what i was saying, or trying to say.

I don’t think that’s quite the right angle it’s coming from, though. Or at least, that’s not how it comes across to me. There could be room for interpretation.

the bible contradicts itself so many times that trying to create any kind of sound rulebook from it is a senseless endeavor. Lots of folks like to say the old testament doesn’t count because jesus, yet i’m pretty sure there was a line in there somewhere saying in however many words that none of god’s covenants could

a well-known author and atheist/antitheist. whether you care is up to you, but the quote above rings pretty true regardless of who spoke it.

sooo EVE Online: The Tabletop Game?
Though I do gotta say, I hate games with a fixed time/turn limit.

Razer Green keys are clones of Cherry MX Blue keys, which were actually optimized for typing rather than gaming. I’m a gamer and developer, and own the original BlackWidow Ultimate with Cherry MX Blue keys, as well as the newer BWU with the Razer Green keys, and both feel excellent to code with.
