Oddly enough, that phrase reminded me of Madonna, who demanded attention, pushed boundaries of what it meant to be a powerful woman in a cut-throat industry and did so without apology or false sense of modesty.

This guy gets woodland creatures to follow him and listen to his monologues? He's the Snow White of the gay community.

U TAKE THAT BACK George Takei is a national treasure!

Should have looped it around her waist... it would have made a great Chastainity belt.

Having worked in recruiting in the tech industry for quite awhile now I can say it's not the Microsofts and Googles of the world that are bringing in H1Bs to fill low wage positions. In my experiences companies such as the above are primarily bringing in people with Masters and PhDs who truly do have skills that are

That is completely false. People jump through hoops to get an H1B, I know it first hand. It requires a degree with your specialized field (and one is not allowed to apply for positions outside of that field), entry into the H1B lottery to determine whose cases get read, not just approved. The process itself costs

This article pisses me off. I've been a live-in au pair for two different wealthy bilingual French families, one in the suburbs of Paris and one in the suburbs of Manhattan. Both families sent their kids to private schools so they could have bilingual educations. This article makes a whole lot of false assumptions.

No. The naysaying almost NEVER comes from a good place. Not to say that the naysaying is always wrong. Someone might be naysaying you and be, coincidentally, RIGHT. BUT, most people are terminally egotistical and their advice is about THEM. (Their encouragement too, obviously.) The exceptions are usually close family

Sex and the City 2.

Somehow I was imagining this:

I used to be a live in nanny in the Upper East Side. Lemme tell you. I spent far more time with that little girl than either of her parents did. The little girl (I won't post her name) was adopted from China, and sort of an accessory child to her parents. She was a really, really sweet kid, but her parents were

Now, I could be being obtuse, but it seems to me none of you (commenters) understand the situation.

We had the opposite situation at my school. All of the models were students, and in general, they were very fit and trim, because fit people are typically (but not always) more likely to say "sure, I'll pose naked!" A lot of artists said that they'd like to see more diversity because drawing young, "hot" co-eds

It's not just them. It can be your closest friends. Who aren't trying to hurt or undermine you. But either can't see you doing anything they couldn't or see you in a limited (even if loving) way.

It just takes a long time to realize a) that when people talk to you about you it's usually not about YOU and b) you can't win anyways.

"It's a feeling you have that you know something about yourself - nobody else
does - the picture you have in your mind of what you're about will come true,"
says Dylan. "It's kind of a thing you kind of have to keep to your own self,
because it's a fragile feeling. And if you put it out there, somebody will kill
it.

Yup. Yup. Yup. Remember this when choosing a college, a field of study, a job, a town to live in, when planning a wedding, while pregnant, while raising children, etc., etc.

That was one of my favorite bits as well. And as an old fogey of 40, I would like to add that as you move along your chosen path, at whatever stage you are, it is also important to remember not to do this shit to other people yourself! It's shockingly easy to let that come out if you're having a bad

I will take this opportunity to present my favorite footnote to ever appear in a federal court opinion:

Citing Urban Dictionary versus citing Wikipedia: which will your professor hate more?
