Culture is very much related to race, especially for people of color. It's normal human behavior to gravitate towards those whom they feel greater similarity with.

I'm Chinese-American (but not from LA) and during my childhood when my immigrant parents didn't feel like cooking they would always bring us to the restaurants and snack shops where the food's taste reminded them most of home.
I'm not the kind to comment on people's posts, especially since the last time I talked with her was three years ago - but I would have just started a flame war in her comments out of sheer rage. A+++ for coming up with a non-condescending response that still calls her out for her attitude.

I went apple picking for the first time today and managed to fit a giant load of apples into my tiny bag! I also bought apple cider and cider donuts. :) Ahh, fall.
