Yep. I was super excited to pull the hand brake on my Mini today turning into the work parking lot.

I actually fully agree with you on this one. What drives me most crazy is they let’s it turn into several inches of deep slush which is super slippery compared to either packed snow or deep snow. I’d rather drive on wet ice than thru slush any day due to slush always pulling your vehicle around.
Drive a Mini then, the cable shifters are excellent.
I too can confirm that a 2015 Jk doesn’t have a reverse lockout, just a spring. My friend just had the manual trans replaced on his and the brand new one isn’t any better, it sounded like it was going to grenade 4th the day after it was installed.
You are putting too much thought into it, people buy them because they like them or like the image is puts forth of them.
I fully agree as I owned an e39 M5. Interestingly I thought 400 hp was overkill and sold it for a JCW Mini, I get far more satisfaction driving the Mini harder everywhere. I do miss the rwd, interior and exhaust note though. Also the 6 to 3 shift at wot is a thing of magic in the M5.
iDX, the one concept that was so good that it is still talked about years later. I still want one, the designer of it should be proud.
I can’t say I’ve seen one in the wild but there’s always a few at the big Pittsburgh cat show every year that I ogle over. They are very understated sharp.
Drive an old British car and see if you still think this.
I always like the subtle M stiching on the steering wheel. A surprising number of people commented on it when I had an e39 M5.
BMW e39 M5. Powerful, fun, large enough to haul stuff if you get one with fold down rear seats. About 50% of US market ones have the fold down rear seat. A super nice one can be had in your price range.
I rented a turbo diesel six speed manual Opel Mokka in France recently and thought it was brilliant! The Mokka is the same vehicle as a Chevy Trax or Buick Encore, which are offered with weak miserable engines and a schizophrenic 6 speed auto.
Hmm, give me a manual diesel French Minivan and we will start talking.
No, I think it looks sharp, as I owned an e39 M5 with a similar color combo interior.
Mmm, fueling my urge to buy an e36 M3. If this wasn’t that awful dark green I’d be down for it. Honestly, when I search for e36 M3s, this is the one color I skip even if the car ticks all my other boxes. I am strongly tempted to import a euro model in a few years.
I’ve never heard of this gas station TV thing. It sounds terrible.
Funny you mention it, my family just finished our Thanksgiving Lasagna as nobody in the house likes Turkey.
This really fuels my desire to buy a minty low miles e36 M3 and start daily driving it like it came out of the showroom yesterday. Much like I did with my e39 M5. Bought it with 5,000 miles per year on it then proceeded to put 15,000 miles per year on it thru winter and summer. It had never been in the snow and had no…
I daily drove an e39 M5 in Lake effect Erie winters for three years. I always turned the traction control off as the first thing when I got in the car in the winter and drifted it everywhere. It was brilliant. I can’t wait to get an e36 M3 and do it all again with an even shorter wheelbase.
I agree! I have a Sprite that is running in tip top shape and absolutely love it. Once you learn the gear box the car doesn’t feel like a tractor at all. I can see if you just started driving one how one would say that. I’ve been driving mine for two summers and can drive it as smooth and quickly as any other manual…
