I’m still legit floored that car companies can just “make things literally unsafe” without some sort of test. Touchscreens just should not be ‘input’ devices.  I have 2 12+ year old cars and am most definitely not looking forward to this ‘feature’ when it’s time.

so funny i keeled over

yeah, the other better solution is having the autonomous trucks run at *optimal* speeds. Without a driver, trundling along at 30-40 mph for 20 hours nets more miles than a full speed driver, at lower charge usage etc.

One of the layoffs was a guy who literally slept in his car at work to log more hours.

it’s FSD  Full Self Destruction

The question is whether the downsides of nuclear are worth it. They are for the moment. As you said things are always changing. And one change is the vast upward ramping of renewable and storage.

“How much for a one way ticket to the 14th st bridge”

It would long have been closed except for Congress.  They no likey driving to Dulles.

My ex-in laws were around when Dulles was very new. It was hell and gone from populated areas at the time. Like more cows nearby than people.

Fission nuclear is a terrible idea. Waste that has to be stored for, checks notes, longer than modern society has *existed* is an exercise in hubris unrivaled in millennia. Oh and it’s *the most* expensive compared to literally every other option - even without the cost of waste storage included. It’s stellar safety

this is why your small cars are a much better market leader.  And they just aren’t selling them.

The EV Corolla’s and Civics are rolling off the....oh wait.

If there’s one feature I want in my house it’s that it’s *immobile*.

That’s only the battery. That isn’t damaged in the vast bulk of crashes. All the safety tech has to be re-certified regardless of EV or ICE.

The thing is we were sold as capitalism being an entire system.  It’s only half of a ledger.   We need significant regulation and taxes on corps to balance that sheet.

Except people drive wildly oversized SUVs already so the tire issue is less significant. An EV Bolt will certainly wear tires faster than a Corolla, but not so much more than a Highlander.
