Excellent, engaging writing! Now, I’m hotly searching Craigslist for an i-MiEV. Digging this.

The thing about leasing that cracks me up, is all the people who buy crappy cars, and exclaim how smart they were to lease, in case it’s garbage. Does one really want to be locked in a three year contract with a stupid car you hate?
I’m with you. No way on earth I’d have that lunatic’s brand associated with me. I seriously “built” a Model Y, with the intention of buying one, about 18 months ago, but I had a weird feeling about him then. Hard pass. Plus, they don’t have rear wipers which is bs.
Interesting. I’d say the opposite. I think I’ve seen one current-ish Acura (Integra) in the past few months. Tons of new Volvos, though and mostly XC90s. And it’s not access... the dealerships are almost next to each other. Sonoma County, CA, for what it’s worth.
You probably know this, but you can ask to pay more for additional miles on your contract.
I’ve been half-looking for an [older] R107 for a while, which either gives definite design cache (yet just perfunctory luxuries, aside from build quality) and respectability, or hi-color, big bumper 70s sass. Then sometimes I think, this model, with Bracq’s finely pared back style, adds way more refinement, actual…
If you have nothing to sell, it’s presumptuous to presume interested customers will remain as such.
I don’t get the appeal of leasing. Not for reliable cars, but DEFINITELY not for riskier cars like Alfa Romeos. It’s a solid contract that’s pretty hard to get out of. Three years can fly by, but not if your needs change, you hate your vehicle, it’s unreliable, you loose your job, get preggs (and need a bigger car),…
I’d say the savvy would start investing in repo companies. The plethora of Ram pickups and Suburbans, in a potentially adjusting economy, seem to be a ticking time bomb for entitled people who think they can afford more than is prudent.
More perfect writing from Brett Berk.
I just wish those turbine wheels, shown on EVERY press car, were available on the lower trim levels. They’re so sexy but I want range over AWD.
I know Jeep is still fantasizing that wheels will someday be square, (ok, I ASSUME they want that), but until then, man, those squared off wheel wells look aaaawkward.
In the 80s and 90s I worked for a very modern company which actually valued employee’s opinions. Once a year it was mandatory to write your “Go for Broke” report. This was your chance to bitch about everything wrong about the company BUT you couldn’t complain about it, if you couldn’t solve it. Fostering ideas,…
I think they get them from a foreign rights-free stock image agency. Less fees, less likeliness that they’ll get busted for copyright usage.
The Muranovertable is probably the RAREST of all. Cache!
They do make some unusual choices. Sliding doors are expensive, so there’s that, but then on the bigger, totally gorgeous “delivery” van concept (MPDV), there is no driver’s door. That, sadly would be a deal breaker for me, and I’m a definite potential customer of it. Their design is bold and I think beautiful. I just…
I like everything I know about Canoo. They might be jerks, or Elon-esque (not that I’ve heard any such thing), but damn, the vehicles look RAD, they genuinely think outside norms, and I just hope hard, that they can make it. As an owner of two out of three of the style of vehicles they’ll be producing (a Sienna…
I was about 20% interested in the KV6 before and 110% in favor of the Ioniq 5. Now that I’ve seen the front wheel drive models have some cheap looking wheels which are nothing like the ones shown in all the pics (which I guess is the AWD model). Now I’m still in love with the Ioniq 5, but the Kia looks pretty great.…
This is the singular reason I’m not in line to get an Ioniq 5. What a stupid omission. I guess I’m holding out for an Audi q4-qtron or whatever that’s called. All because of a wiper. Gurr.
Pickup trucks. I don’t get it. They hold about 1/2 what my Sienna holds, get about 1/2 the gas (or even diesel) mileage, make you look like ya got a teeeeeny “eggplant,” you need to put extra time on your calendar to park it in any normal parking space, plus, there’s something sad about buying a truck that starts at…
NO dice. I was considering the RAV4 EV and did a lot of research, about a year ago. There are many stories about it, and it’s good ... till it’s not. Tesla doesn’t support them any longer, so it’s a ticking time bomb (or ticking doorstop) and when it’s done, it’s only good as parts. The whole, “can’t you just get a…
