The Explorer is at least RWD, but by every account I’ve read, it’s still a turd. Plus, as Erik noted, people are already not buying Explorers.  No need for further deterrence.

I don’t think any other series has as much of a disconnect between the branding and the product. It’s expensive and the “stock” part is sticker-deep on top of a soap bar shape covering a highly engineered version of 70s tech, yet it’s supposed to be the everyman’s sport with “win on Sunday, sell on Monday” relevance.

Ooof.  Give that a couple of years, and it will still be too soon.

We need to combine that auto-dimming mirror concept with those rear window louvres that were popular on muscle cars from the 60s-80s. Flip a switch, and each panel pivots to aim a mirror slightly up and toward the driver’s side.  If the light isn’t too bright to blast forward through a rear window, it’s not too bright

Mine is a 2.0 petrol, the only non-turbo motor that we got in the States for the outgoing generation.  Maybe it’s specific to this market.  Nobody here buys manuals, so why bother making them any good?

More reliable, but that rev hang kind of ruins the point of having a manual. I want to control my shifts, not wait for the engine to think about it and give me the OK. Can’t wait to trade mine in.

My daily is a stick shift Focus. Sadly, the manual ones are crap in the shifting department, too, although it’s because of the engine management, not the transmission. They suffer terribly from rev hang. You can shift quickly or smoothly, but not both.

Because Fox News & Co. have been screaming SOCIALISM and COMMUNISM about literally every non-military government function for thirty years, and they’ve finally broken these words free from any actual meaning except fear.

CNN: “We are updating our reporting to add nuance to the 98% accurate statement that the President’s subordinate gave to Congress.”

You might want to clarify on Coach Tuberville’s description that his ads feature others kneeling during the national anthem, not him.

I don’t know where folks got the idea that language is not supposed to evolve. Clearly their high school English teachers didn’t make them suffer through any of the original text of Beowulf or Canterbury Tales like mine did. English is a terribly convoluted mashup of different languages, but in this one brief, shining

This had been my thought as well, but I think you need a cross between this and a conventional trailer and hitch ball. Instead of using a ball, only allow it to pivot vertically. Then the trailer’s wheels take the weight, but it can’t jackknife like a normal trailer, and it can’t transmit bumps back to the car or lift

My first thought as well

The 2nd gen wasn’t bad, but it did not stand out whatsoever.  The Volt lost as much visual excitement going from the 1st gen to the 2nd gen as it did going from the concept to the 1st gen.

That in itself is surprising, given their typical level of corruption.

So Glickenhaus is the house where you get lucky?

Good to see that they’re broadening the appeal to new demographics. Out with the retired dads, in with the new moms! I expect the frunk to feature prominently in the “Will It Baby?” review.

Floor marking tape is also good for many applications, if you don’t need the added strength of fabric backing like gaffer tape or duck tape. It sticks pretty well to dirty and oily surfaces, but it is gentle enough that you can peel it off of a sheet of paper without tearing the paper.  The residue is minimal, unless

I could see this working almost automatically, if the driver keeps his arms pretty rigid and his torso isn’t belted in super tight. Push forward under braking, pull back under acceleration. That said, it would probably be wiser to spring-load it forward, and pull back on the straights when the steering inputs need not

What kind of material/component was the cross-threaded hole in? Was that a thick cast piece, or a nut welded onto the back side of a sheet metal stamping, or a tapped extruded hole in a stamping?
