So that’s what they’re doing with all the seized Russian yachts…
I have a 12-year-old 5 speed Fit sport, which I love utterly and completely. At some point it will die, and this sad HR-V is all Honda has to offer me. I’ll probably end up getting an Impreza, because at least you can get them in manual.
The Fit is better in every way though. The HRV feels so small inside compared to a Fit.

Well, I think Jason has done equally as much for car culture.
“Than damn near anybody” is obviously hyperobole, but you get my point. I have friends who don’t care about cars at all sending me Doug videos, and that’s just awesome.
Doug has done more for car culture than damn near anybody. He’s gotten people who had previously had no interest in cars excited. And that has value.
I’m going to let you in a little secret: High Bypass Turbo Fan Jets (used in every commercial aircraft) are mostly ~ 90% ducted fans... where the power core propulsion system is a geared jet engine rather than a piston engine.
I’d say you’re right in that there would have to be redundant systems. It would be pretty dangerous to have a single point of failure, even in a prototype.
I am really curious about range. I’m assuming the range for electric aircraft is more about duration than distance, so how many hours can you get out of a full charge and how long does it take to recharge to 100%?
I wonder how electric ducted fans are going to change the game.
This will always remind me about ‘Boots’ Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness. Where the rich person can afford a good pair of boots ($50) that will last for many years whereas the person can only afford to buy an okay pair of boots that still gets wet ($10) and last maybe a season or two.
point to a starting price around the mid-$80,000 mark.
The Corolla S. Exactly the same mechanicals as the base model but it has bigger wheels and the plastic caps on the chin and bumper.
That actually had some serious performance over a normal Caliber. Sure, it was still a piece of crap, but at least it was a much higher performing piece of crap.
Mustang King Cobra II. All show, no go with the same smog-choked 130HP 302 V8 that a plain-jane Mustang II could be optioned with.
That will get you a 997.2 which is a fabulous car. That said, $60k also buys you a 981 Boxster. If you HAVE to get an auto, PDK is the best on the planet in a fun mid engine platform.
Sure, but they recommend that BECAUSE car companies don’t offer good value cars here. It’s not car companies not selling good value cars because of the Jalopnik comment section.
It’s a pegboard so you can 5-S your tools.
It’d never fly in the “aspirational” US car market, but I’d like to see a cheap car that embraces its cheapness. Skip the door panels and lets see a painted door frame. Let’s get more creative with materials. Cork for flooring and sound insulation.
