While I get what you’re saying, leaving a model to age ten years is a little egregious, don’t you think? The first gen Xterra lasted 5 years. The second one, ten. After more than say 4-6 years, you’re just no longer competitive in the market.

The 2JZ-GTE is the pinnacle of this engine series as you mentioned. But you also mentioned the 2JZ-GE that can be found in the GS300. Is essentially the only difference between these two some of the internals? With as high dollar as the 2JZ-GTE is, couldn’t someone essentially mimic this by getting the “missing”…
