PS, I like the older white dude in the back just observing.”

It’s probably built by Renault.

Id be happy to take MB Metris, with 2+3 seats in the back and adaptive suspension and awd so I can cover 600mi a day if needed

[Psst! You forgot to tell him to quit with the slide shows.]

Actually, based on recent performance figures, the 2.7L Ecoboost F150 has consistently tested 0-60 in 5.7 seconds, the 3.5L Ecoboost on 91 octane will do 5.3 seconds.

While we were not paying attention, the square body market blew up....as did pretty much all 70s and 80s pickups. It is incredibly frustrating, it seems there is no longer such a thing as a cheap truck, unless it is a rolling disaster of rust and other issues.

Jim and Neil were both cast as straight men. Jody Foster, Matt Boner, Meredith Baxter, Cynthia Nixon, Wentworth Miller, Zachary Quinto, Elliot Page, Ian McLellan, Derek Jacobi, Luke Evans, Jonathan Groff, just off the top of my head, have played straight characters. I know it’s not an even playing field, but a lot of

I’m guessing you don’t live anywhere near Texas, because I see Platinum and King Ranch F-150s and F-250s on the road every day, along with Laramie RAMs and whatever the high spec Chevy/GM is called.

Nathan Lane is a treasure!

Wasn’t Modern Family extremely popular? It was on for like 10-11 seasons.

No offense taken! This was 100% an op-ed by me to try and really uncover what makes us want trucks, and that is a very correct analysis of it. Basically I wanted to present the facts, offer a possible reason, and leave it at that. Thank you for reading!

I do like how this article tried to figure out the reasons for Americans to be so infatuated with trucks instead of screaming about banning them or some such nonsense. It was poignant and touched on a lot of good points about the possible psychology of this buying trend. It even explored the pros and the cons of these

This.  My father is a fire chief, in a district where most calls are traffic accidents.  He would describe all the motorcycle accidents in detail, and it successfully kept me away from bikes.  The half dozen or so that I can remember that were from splitting (illegal here) were particularly nasty.

Really fucking pisses me off reading this comment section of people going

Are we seriously turning the deaths of 8 people and 32 injured into a political pissing match.

I am certain that curtain airbags, crumple zones and a whole host of other built in safety equipment saved more than a few lives here.

Texas has annual safety inspections.

Grew up in Alaska. Drove a “big” truck. I pulled just as many Subarus out of the ditch as Dodges. Overconfidence in the “safety” of your particular vehicle isn’t just a Big Truck thing, and there is a world of difference between a cute ad campaign and reality, especially for overconfident inexperienced drivers.
