I give Ford a bit of a pass because, if memory serves me, they were the only one of the Big 3 that didn’t take a huge federal bailout back in 2009 whilst GM and Chrysler were sucking hard on that govt teat.

Pretty sure? Or is there, you know, an actual, proven correlation? And is it the primary reason? Or a lesser factor, acting on the margins?

Fixing the small truck rules under CAFE to match reality would be a good step towards encouraging smaller cars.

Our vehicles are larger, heavier and there are more distractions than ever before.

You forgot to say Tesla is a scam and Elon is satan.

You can’t make this chit up. There’s something in the water supply here...

Here's hoping.

I didn’t see any digs on GM in that comment, Pat....

Those people with expiring leases, such as my wife, don’t get to dictate the timing of when we get a new vehicle. Yes, we can extend the lease, but that also means (at least in our case) the possibility of having to purchase tires and brakes before turning in the lease.

I agree re: pricing. Some people who were far along in their buying process were probably pushed over the edge by low/no interest rate loans offered by captive financing arms (GM/Chevy with 84 mo/0%), as well as deferred payments.

Heh. Funny thing, here in Santa Barbara the local “woke” rag=newspaper actually had the gall to run an opinion piece this week about “the good side of COVID... in pointing the way forward on climate change”.

Counterpoint: 0% financing everywhere. Demand in the shitter. Right now is the PERFECT time to buy a car, IF you’re prepared for it. I’m glad I held out a few extra months because this Ranger I’ve been eyeing since February is $6,000 cheaper than it was then. I’m talking them lower and having them throw in a Rhino

A+ bait, had my eyes halfway rolled until the end.

It’s all about getting those clicks - gotta take all of these things with a grain of exaggerated salt

You had me going there for a sec... well played.

Why?  Not everyone is affected by this.  I’m shopping for and hoping to score a good deal on a CR V Hybrid for my wife this spring.

Agreed. I can’t drive it to Austin or Dallas without waiting somewhere for a recharge; and a run to Colorado is strictly “out”.

No, I think he means it’s big out there. A 125 mile range, when the vehicle is new, and the ambient temperature is favorable, isn’t going to cut it.

DPS says Nguyen faces charges for unlawful flight from law enforcement, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal damage. Additional charges may also come from Gilbert police.
