Wonder what Gil would say about that! Probably would’ve recommended Brandon for the job.
It effectively ended with Brenda gone, although sometimes it’s hard to believe the show went on SO MUCH longer after that.
Does the Gladiator Vex Me Here?
Me too. I just fucking love the line “I’m amazed that I survived, an airbag saved my life.” Something existenitally disturbing and matter-of-fact about it (and I think based on a real car accident Thom Yorke was in.. see also b-sides “Killer Cars” and “Stupid Car”).
I love the album, but always skip the 3 of Fitter Happier, Electioneering, and Climbing Up the Walls. I’d say the best solid stretch is either the kickoff of Airbag/Paranoid/Subterannean or outro of No Suprises/Lucky/Tourist.
I would say You and Whose Army, I Might Be Wrong, and Knives Out on Amnesiac (4,5,6).
And was in the French “The Returned”!

I also worked at a movie theater at this time of this showing, and felt like as controversial as the movie was, it could’ve actually been a lot better with much less slo-mo torture and more flashbacks/Jesus-doing-miracles stuff — the only watchable parts of the film.
On your first point, this is literally the first episode of the revival that could’ve been slotted in the original run seamlessly. Like season 5. I liked it, didn’t love it, but was warmly familiar.
Was her best acting performance the cameo in Shadows & Fog?
Jonny Greenwood should’ve also won for the awesome score
I saw him at a Radiohead concert in 2003. Very short.
Just remembered she is in this too... as the key party arranger.
How did Sigourney Weaver not get nominated or WIN an Oscar for this?!? I love her chilly dismissal of Kevin Kline at the key party. And her earlier line to him in bed: “I already have a husband. I don’t particularly want another.”
The Gondry one is awesome. He should’ve added some of the videos from the second edition on it, mainly “Knives Out” by Radiohead. Fun facts from seeing Gondry discuss the videos in person at a Q&A session once:
Fincher has so many classics that still hold up (many with Madonna).. Vogue, Express Yourself, Oh Father. Cold Hearted by Paula Abdul remains highly watchable. And Janie’s Got a Gun is so good, it makes it seem like Aerosmith wrote the song after seeing the video.
When they show a map briefly, it’s clearly a lengthy, straight stretch of horizontal land with water below it. While I don’t think Florida was explicitly stated, I assumed it was either the Panhandle or somewhere just west in the Gulf Coast. Then throw in the alligator and swampy landscape, and it makes sense as…
