Yes, it is a very good film. The whole cast - Geena Davis, Tim Robbins, and especially Lois Smith - were at the top of their games.
In part 2, the scene of Neve Campbell and Elise Neal escaping the crashed cop car by crawling over the unconscious killer was literally too scary to watch in the theater, the whole crowd was covering their eyes screaming.
