The ball mechanics in Pokemon Stadium for the GC were very similar to what you just described. And yeah you could steal pokemon from other trainers under certain conditions (Idk what it was specifically, they had a purple glow to them is all I remember)

Yeah, I watched my friend play it and payed a ridiculous amount for a collectors edition guide for her bday some tenish years ago. Is it the same game as the DS version though? I really want the game but not gonna pay anything more than maybe $15. If I can’t buy it I’ll emulate it but I prefer it on an actual console.
