I chose an Android not just because it is open but also NOT to get a iOS look. So why should I put this. Anyway, I flashed my Galaxy S with various ROMs, but finally went back to CM7. Even though I lost the TV out feature, nothing else could beat the speed and yes, it doesn't look like iOS.

A lot. I use a machine and get full bags of soybean for about $3-$4. Using 1/2 cup for one batch of soymilk, it lasts a long time.
This is not necessarily right. You have not taken public transportation as an option. That costs less than driving. Secondly the house prices and taxes at the work place (if a major city) may be much higher than total costs to stay away. This analysis is way too simplistic.
Some of these could be cultural. In fact in India, our class teachers would ask us to fold our arms and pay attention. Folded and crossed arms/legs for us meant paying close attention, something I had to unlearn after coming to USA.
