I can’t possibly be Kelli Ward, because I hate McCain for making a pyre out of healthcare and supporting foreign wars, whereas she fully supports those things and worse (such as actively courting conspiracy theorists) and therefore, like him, is a garbage human being.

The fact that he was a shitty soldier is one of his only redeeming qualities. 

I have no desire to go to his funeral, so there’s no concern of that happening. Besides, his funeral is for his family, not for him. Exemplifying McCain as an asshole: this contemptuous-as-fuck 2006 letter of his to then-Senator Obama — which in light of Obama’s 2008 victory is a fine source of sweet, sweet retroactive schadenfreude.

The most telling of his final actions—he goes along with his deviant, cruel, traitorous political party to the bitter, bitter end. And you better believe he knew exactly how traitorous they were. He still honored them over the people until the very end of his life. THAT was John McCain.

For the TL, DR crowd: yep, McCain was a standard-issue Republican/fucking asshole. And a far bigger piece of shit in person than  his PR machine ever let on.

He was diagnosed with a 0% chance of surviving his brain cancer, and he didn’t resign because he knew he might linger long enough that he’d be replaced by an appointed Senator rather than an elected one.  If he’d resigned a few months ago, Arizona would be holding an election to fill his seat.  John McCain decided…

And let’s not forget another one of his finer moments:

Let’s not forget “Swift Boat” either.

He was a terrible soldier, who was incredibly brave.

He earned his Purple Heart a hundred times over. A soldier worthy of respect and admiration.

That moment is going to get blasted around a lot today. But here is the thing to remember. Trump shit all over him for being a POW, then McCain voted in line with what Trump wanted 80% of the time. I get the idea that 80% is better than 100% but it’s still shitty and spineless.

Fuck John McCain.
