Small format cells still have a lot of advantages when it comes to packaging and more importantly temperature management. The 2170 cells they are using have many advances over the old 18650 cells with regards to safety in addition to the advances in capacity.

They don’t use 18650's anymore. Model 3 uses 2170 cells.

C’mon Jason! You guys were consistently wrong calling this car an EV up until now when it was clear it would be a hybrid. Now you call their next two cars “being full battery-electric hybrids” when P* has already made it clear that every vehicle after this will be a pure EV. You are actually there. This shouldn’t be

Now playing

You’re old pal Doug Demuro did a whole video about it in Sep 2016,

A few things. One, The comment you copied, referred to their first car being an EV. That has been proved inaccurate with the tailpipes on their concept car they are slowly revealing on IG.

They do have some exciting stuff potentially coming but that whole “The End” nonsense was just poor Marketing. The plans seem to be to stick to everything they have done up to this point (i.e Engineered cars based of Volvo models, Optimizations for all Volvo models and Accessories for Volvo models) then they will

Autocar released details of it months ago. It’s a 600HP coupe based on SPA. It will most likely have a 450HP version of the Drive-E and a 150HP E-motor. It will be smaller than the S90 but most likely larger than the S60.

It has nothing to do with Geely cars. It’s based on Volvo’s SPA platform and Volvo’s Drive-E engine and hybrid system.

The end refers to the end of the old platform, that’s it. Polestar has confirmed this on our Volvo “Club” Site...

Why does everyone on this site still get this wrong? They will not be building EV’s just yet. Their first cars will be hybrids followed up by EV’s down the road.

In the US it’s KBI, in Europe it’s Umicore. The same issue existed with Lead Acid batteries but eventually people figured out ow to make recycling profitable. That’s the key. It’s not that the technology doesn’t exist, it’s that it’s not profitable so companies don’t do it. As EV’s start becoming more ubiquitous

The point of protests are they are supposed to be inconvenient and make you uncomfortable. It sounds like these are doing exactly what they are intending to. You have made absolutely no justification as to why you brought up that they were wealthy. So again, if they were poor, would it be okay for them to be

So the part you are upset about is that these guys earn a good living?!? If they were poor, then would it be okay for them to speak up? This is the most nonsense argument that gets repeated over and over again. “I don’t want some millionaire telling me what to do”. The most ironic ones are the Trump voters saying

Why are people having such a hard time with this?!? All it means is the end of Volvo Polestar branded cars. That’s it. Production of the MY18 S/V60 P* just wrapped up which are the last Volvo-P* branded cars. Stop trying to read more into it. Polestar engineered cars, like my V60 P* will now just be called

That is a ridiculous solution to an issue. I don’t care how much money Volvo gives me, I’m not buying an iPhone. Your lucky to not have to deal with the other issues like the sunroof leaking.

You go down any lower in price and you are no longer in the luxury segment. A Chevy Trax starts at $21k and goes up to $28k so there isn’t much room to play with in the segment.

They aren’t looking for young people, they are looking for young professionals. A young professional can afford a payment on a $35k car. It should really start in the high $20k’s and sell with options for the mid $30k’s. Remember, they are still a luxury brand. They aren’t trying to appeal to the masses.

Listen, you are welcome to enjoy what you own but understand what it is before making such ridiculous comments. The reason the Drive-E both Supercharged and Turbocharged is because they went from a 3.0L I-6 to a 2.0 4 cylinder and needed the Twin-charging to get close to the same power. Even with Twin-charging the
