Some states are smarter about this. There is an income limit of $150k/year to receive the credit in CA at least.

Size wise, the E-tron actually competes (poorly) with the Model Y. The Model Y has over 10 cu ft more storage space (68 cu ft) than the E-tron (54.5 cu ft). Model X is in a completely different league (87.8 cu ft)
Thanks for the clarification. That’s actually interesting as most automakers that are not Tesla are not allowing that high a percentage of the pack to be used.
You should probably know these things before making comments. Tesla actually has one of the highest profit margins on their vehicles in the entire industry. In Q1 Tesla’s gross margins hovered between 20.3% and 24.7% which is about double most other brands. Just like you described with Amazon, Tesla reinvests these…
Bradley, what are the actual battery sizes? You say it is 63kWh on the short range and 87kWh on the long range and then a few lines later it is 65kWh and 90kWh?!? Which is it?
Heads up, the car is not built by Geely. Polestar has their own new factory in China. Polestar, while ultimately owned by Geely, is a subsidiary of Volvo. Geely did collaborate on the CMA platform with Volvo but that is where their involvement ends, beyond financial obviously. Just like Geely does not build Volvos,…
Post a link because right now this is just your recollection of 9 years ago. I was there in 2009 so I know what was going on.
You would help yourself out by just reading this, https://www.tesla.com/blog/mythbusters-part-2-tesla-roadster-not-converted-lotus-elise.
There was no true planning done in 2009. The “master plan” that you are referring to actually came out in 2006 now that it look. It was simply “Without giving away too much, I can say that the second model will be a sporty four door family car at roughly half the $89k price point of the Tesla Roadster and the third…
Tesla announced a plan to build a series of cars back in 2008 actually. That has zero to do with starting development on them. Having an idea of a class of cars you want to produce in the future does not mean they started developing those cars. I was there when this happened, so I have a pretty good understanding…
I’m pretty sure Suspension was changed as the Roadster weighed almost 900lbs more than the Elise. The brakes on the Lotus are not even from Lotus. Both cars use AP Racing brakes.
I worked there for 4 years, selling the Roadster for 2 of those years. I know the car intimately. Chassis components, side mirrors and the windshield are the main shared parts. The chassis is both lengthened and widened.
Model 3 absolutely did not start development in 2009. Having worked at Tesla from 2009-2013 I saw this first hand. Model S was the only internal vehicle being developed until 2012 when Model X development started. Model 3 development was barely beginning when I left in 2013.
Sorry but that is not even close to true. The two cars share 6% of parts. I can guarantee you almost every vehicle in every large automaker shares more parts than that across their entire lineup as well as with other brands.
The first C30 posted was not Rebel Blue and actually neither is the one you posted. The car you posted is The C30 P* Concept that is a shade lighter than the actual Rebel Blue. This is the true “Swedish Racing Green”...
If you help design something you should get credit for that specifically, it does not make you the manufacturer. Monroe both helped design and built the dampers. Throwing your name on a part doesn’t mean you built it. The pads on my V60 Polestar say “Volvo Brembo”. Did Volvo build or design them? Absolutely not. …
“Other brands may be doing that, but if we’re looking at a market worth 30m cars within seven years, it isn’t going to be niche, it’s going to be mainstream. So you just design a great-looking car – not one with a big blue flash down the side.”
No. It is a Volvo 4C Suspension with Monroe dampers.
So when you go try to find replacements, do you go to a Monroe catalog or an Ohlins? Porsche was part of the development of the Audi RS2, does that make it a Porsche? Rimac did a bunch of development for Koenigsegg, does that make the Regera a Rimac? I could go on.
The Ohlins on the P* cost over $3k, so it is an upgrade in both cost and performance.
