Both the V60 and XC60 have jumped up in price now. Even on current gen models, you have my V60 Polestar at the top of the range at $62k. The new V60's that will be coming out on the SPA platform will be a good 15% more expensive than current models. The new XC60 gets up to $70k+ on the top models.

No, this is the XC40, the crossover. You are talking about an S40 CC, which they previewed with that weird concept called the 40.1. This is based off the 40.2 concept. Volvo makes two different types of Cross Country’s. They have the SUV’s/CUV’s (XC40/XC60/xc90) then you have the lifted sedans/wagons (V60CC, S60CC,

Volvo is targeting the young, hip professional with the 40 series based on their press releases. They are trying to be more daring with the 40 series compared to the rest of the lineup to attract a younger crowd. Don’t think they will achieve it but that is their goal.

I have now found the answer to what they were trying to say with this. As I suspected, they were not talking about capacity at all. This has a 150-kW front motor and a 75-kW rear motor. Somehow Patrick combined those 2 numbers, which is not what you do with EV’s to get total power anyway(Tesla got knocked for

What are you comparing it to? Cars that weigh 1,000lbs less? Unless you have an apples to apples comparison, it is meaningless. Look at the efficiency of the cells themselves. Tesla’s cost/kWh is well below the rest of the industry. Tesla’s energy density is well above most of the rest of the industry. What

They won’t. They will lose money on it and make it up on their other cars. This is actually funny to write but VW doesn’t have the economies of scale for this compared to Tesla, which seems to make no sense based on the volumes each puts out. The answer is Tesla’s Gigafactory. The Gigafactory matched the

It really depends on the efficiency of their packs. Tesla is really good on efficiency and the Model X can only get 295 miles out of the 100D. The P100D knocks that down to 289 miles. The Model S 100D can get 335 miles. With that known, I would say this needs at least a 100kWh pack to get close to 300 miles.

The phrase has a different meaning to me. I worked at Tesla from 2009-2013 so was part of the team that built it from a struggling 400 person start up to a thriving 12,000 person(when I left, it’s 35k+ now) public company that was making everyone in the industry take notice. I actually take the term “Tesla Killer”

Exactly. But hey, at least it’s an article about an EV without the words “Tesla Killer” in the headline...progress /s

225kW is a meaningless number. Battery capacity is measured in kWh, Power is measure in kW. There is also no way they fit a 225kWh pack in a vehicle this small.

I was going to comment exactly this. Why are people still so clueless about Battery capacity?!? 225 Kw is meaningless for capacity and this thing does not have a 225kWh battery. You couldn’t even fit a 225kWh pack in a metro Van.

Saying “for their class” doesn’t change the fact that you are driving a minivan and compact crossover. The dream is over dude, let it go. I’m just playing. Mazda does make good handling cars for their classes, but their engines are all underpowered now and they don’t compete in the sports car market anymore. That

You killed your entire argument with the last line. Tesla has no need to lower their fleet wide mpg ratings as it’s already ZERO. So the company that actually started the entire industry push for EV, doesn’t follow the model you claim everyone is basing things off of.

“Mazda always puts the experience of driving first”

What are you talking about?!? From C & D testing...

You said there was no F40 there yet you have a picture of an F40. It’s surprising Bugatti didn’t bring the Chiron over to Quail because it was at Exotics at Cannery Row where most of these cars ended up...

You sure do like to complain. How dare they give FREE improvements in performance that ZERO other Automakers offer. Please again tell me what other company is improving the performance of the cars post production.

As has Tesla. The introduced a complete “refresh” and Dual Motor models but unlike other Automakers they also improved their original cars.

You completely miss the point that there are so many important updates that have been added since launch in 2012, that every single car gets, unless there is a hardware restriction(i.e early cars lacked AP hardware). No other car on the market is still improving 5 years after someone bought it. There have been huge

There is nothing restricting the Automakers from this. The dealers have no say in software updates. Volvo already provides over-the-air Nav updates.
