Hmm. I wonder if gaming took a lead from the insurance companies (ie Progressive’s ‘Snap Shot’ dongle) if that would make gamers cheat less or pirate less. Maybe even offer discounts in the future? Reward good behavior with some kickbacks.

Hey, video game dev’s that want people to play their game to feel accomplishment/entertainment instead of constantly spending on it?
Wow, nearly every comment on this reminds me of The Orvilles - Majority Rule episode; and that one from Black Mirror too.
Aww c’mon man!
I think the most shitty thing is that Gazillion knew it was going to close its doors, why they chose to keep the store open is beyond me.
First, yes, fuck you NCSoft.
If it’s not supposed to bother those people who are against it, why does it bother you that other people are bothered? Wallet Warrior much? Again, you never had to cry and bitch about people bitching and moaning about this shit show in the first place. Amirite?
Hells yeah, right on man.
Old school:
Well, then something has to change because at that rate of scale if the industry were to charge the “real” price for titles like these, it would be exclusive or a privilege to play any of them in general.
Hey, remember when games were making the change to digital distro?
You have a chance of disabling zone chat in STO. Just buy a key and an event-specific lockbox.
It is just straight up greed, plain and simple. Theres no need to organize a think tank or write scientific articles on the whole practice.
This same exact watch me gamble system is used in Elder Scrolls Online (you can actually see when someone is in the cash shop) -and ESO happens to use the same exact lockbox system as Star Trek Online (where they also broadcast a server-wide message on who wins), you get jack shit out of a box, turn it all in for gems…
Word. It was super fun.
When you assault and clear the large military shipping boats, the helpful boat guy will show up to offer you ride out should you need one. And you don’t need to drive it, you can sit under the main mast.
Holy cow, super nice! Would be awesome if he found a couple girls to model Aya and Layla. And no Senu? =(
Origins has lootboxes, too, though they are sold only for in-game currency (which, yes, can also be purchased with Helix).
Holy shit, the clothing concepts for Marcus are amazing -perfect romanticized ‘urban hacker’ look. Damn shame it was not like that in the actual game. Looks heaps better than running around wearing the misc pieces of clothing from a thrift store like we got.
