YESSS. It’s wonderfully creepy, and the art is awesome. Kind of like a smarter, 70s version of the (arguably terrible) movie, It Follows.

YEAH! I remember being a rebel and taking Breakaway from the stacks of free copies at my youth group because it had features on all of the “cool” bands (Brio usually stuck to worship leaders and singer-songwriters) and, if I recall, seemed like it was written for a higher reading level.

There’s definitely still some action scenes, but it’s Spidey, so with one cartoonish exception (basically being vaproized/turned to ash) no one gets horribly hurt, and I can’t recall any blood/gore. At the very least you can definitely reassure him that everyone will be okay during the 2-3 drawn out fight/danger…
